I have no experience w/ shotguns, but plenty w/ M-14 and M-16. Not sure what you mean by "bigger", w/ regard to shotguns.

Buy a BIGGER one...there is no substiture for horsepower.Shorter ones are handier in close quarters, and are lighter. That's why my "serious social purposes" shotgun, (Not an 870, which I could not afford at the time) has a 18.5" barrel. Sure I give up two rounds of magazine capacity, but 6 should be enough, and if not, I know how to reload it.
