COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama's plan to curtail technology usage constitutes an abuse of executive power. The announcement made during a speech at the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum might have been well-intentioned but surpasses the limits of his office and circumvents the authority of Congress.
As a senator, Obama criticized President George W. Bush for his issuance of executive orders, according to the New York Times. Sinking poll numbers and a desire to accomplish a far-left agenda apparently prompted Obama to once again backpedal on campaign promises.
The technology and social media executive order aims at helping protect Middle East and North Africa citizens from human rights violations, the Washington Post reports. The order might help identify possible violations in other nations but leads America down a slippery slope of electronic monitoring and access bans as well.
According to order details published in the Washington Post, the law will permit Internet surveillance, tracking movement of "opposition figures" and block online access to those who pose a danger to national security. The executive order is designed to protect against genocide, but the details do not explicitly prohibit surveillance or Internet restrictions in America.
The U.S. visa ban against a host of foreign individuals and agencies as detailed in the order might appear to protect Americans, but in reality it does very little to enhance national security. Until the southern border is secure, access to the U.S. will always be vulnerable.

- - - Congressional obstructionism - - - in America is called Checks and Balances.
BTW, your Dictatorness, just how long has it been since you applied for US Citizenship status?
BTW, just how does one Impeach a Foreign National Impostor?
Norway had their Quisling, and we have the kid who flunked kindergarden.
Then there are people here that say if Mittens get the nomination they won’t vote for him thus allowing this bastard back in office.
This devil just told us that not only does he have the power to turn off the internet, he admitted he has the means.
And where is the opposition?
But, but, but... how could the Mussiah (spelling incorrect on purpose) possibly abuse his almighty power?
If Urpbama curtails internet usage, teenage girls alone could launch a rebellion.
Has Obama ever demonstrated that he IS a legal citizen?
Everything he does is an abuse of power
If that happens Obama will be Impeached in 2013. He has earned it, worked hard for it, and deserves it. I for one will do my best to help make Obama’s Impeachment possible.
BTW, wasn’t the previous Democrat Occupant of the White House also Impeached? Must be a coincidence, or maybe a pattern of Character Deviancy?
” - - - Has Obama ever demonstrated that he IS a legal citizen?”
Great point! Yeah! Let’s see his test scores from his US Citizenship Examination!
BTW, don’t expect his scores to be to high, as Obama did flunk Kindergarden - - - .
This passel of Marxist monkeys in the white house is the biggest threat this country has ever faced.
I can only pray that people wise up before it’s too late.
WH plans to circumvent Congress raising concerns
Mittens will do the same thing.
Romney and Obama are just two liberals battling for the White House and they’re both appealing to the same people; gays, Earth worshippers, non-Christians, abortionists, secular progressive urban voters, etc. You can’t tell me that Sheriff Babeau wasn’t a surrogate put out there a visual symbol to the gay community that Romney is supportive of their agenda. You might as well get used to the fact that if Romney is nominated that there will be 4 more years of Obama. I don’t think conservatives have given up yet though and I hope there’s a fight at the convention.
