Sinai is a huge point of contention because this is where flocks of tourists have been coming for the last decade due to the fabulous diving and snorkeling in the Red Sea.
Several bombs were exploded at hotels in recent years. The battle is between Muslims who like the foreign money and the prosperity it brings and Muslims who want to return to the Caliphate.
No suprise that the Sinai is degenerating into anarchy. Sad...it really is an amazing place to visit.
