Gingrich to WCNC: 'We’ll continue to campaign'
WCNC ^ | 4-24-12 | staff

Posted on 04/24/2012 6:24:18 PM PDT by VinL

Despite speculation that he might drop out of the presidential race soon, Newt Gingrich said he is pressing on during an exclusive interview with NewsChannel 36 anchor Dave Wagner Tuesday afternoon.

“These reports somehow get exaggerated,” Gingrich. “We have 23 events this week…What I did say was that we are going to evaluate actively and honestly what has happened here.”

Gingrich spent part of Tuesday at the Billy Graham library with his wife and campaign staff. He is expected at an event Tuesday night in Concord as well.

“Under any circumstance we are going to be at every single event we outlined this week and our expectation is that we’ll continue to campaign until Romney gets to 1144 delegates.

“I think it is very important for the voters to be the people who decide, not the news media or the campaign consultants,” Gingrich added.

I’ve seen those posts. I think trolls are advocating voting for Obama. It is incredibly offensive.

Yes they have, this was written about years ago though, whoever controlled the media would control the message. However they use to deliver both messages from both sides of an issue now they tweek even the ‘messages’ to lean toward the left...favorably.... even when they are absolutely wrong.

Yup. Leave out a few pertinent facts and you’ve got “the truth according to commies”.

Sorry.....reality has struck, Gingrich has thrown in the towel. After the beating he took last night, he did the right thing. Poor guy was done in months ago, just too ego driven to realize it. Mr. Santorum used his brains and will come out of all this looking good and ensuring hiumself a bright political career in the future. Gingrich comes up short all around. Maybe liberal Dee Dee in NY !0 can console him!!! And...if not Dee Dee, Gringrich’s soul sister, communist, Nancy Pelosi can soothe his self-inflicted wounds.

If Romney wins the nomination, I will actively campaign against him, and for a conservative. Period.

there’d been big rumors last week that Newt was cancelling his North Carolina appearances and, while Newt’s campaign denied, it greatly affected the turnout.

Well the media pushed this of course...as it would discourage some from even voting, and is what they do to usher in THEIR candidate.

I voted for Newt yesturday here in PA. The turnout for my district was just 124 people and half were democrates!

Even so I was Proud to vote Newt.

Your post is riddled with nothing but insults and few facts.

You may think that Santorum has a "bright political career in the future" but I wouldn't brag about it as Romney and Obama are going to destroy America. And Santorum will vote "yes" to fund everyone of their "feel good" projects. Compassionate conservatism, you know. By it's true name it's socialism.

Most FReepers who were Romney shills have been thrown off here. I voted for Santorum in the IL Election because he was closest in the polls AND I thought we could pull off an upset.

Am I happy with this Primary? Hell no!!!

But your statement is basically saying you will campaign for Obama, I just hope you don't use this website. We have enough sleepers who have been waiting to tear this site apart.

Most FReepers who refuse to vote for Romney are still voting they are either leaving POTUS blank or writing in a candidate but they aren't going to vote for Obama NOR Campaign for Obama!!!

They are simply going to vote straight Tea Party. Voting for Obama would be treason in my opinion. I met him, I assume you haven't. I met him in 2005 talked to him for 10 min got an auto. He is pure evil, you can tell from his eyes.

I'm not here to be the FR Gestappo. I will NEVER campaign for Romney nor give him or the RNC a penny!

I haven't given the RNC a dime since Bush was trying to grant amnesty! And I've only voted for Tea Party / Conservatives (Pre-Tea Party) Candidates. The Republican running for US Congress in my district is a Tea Party Republican. If I stayed home that would cost him a vote.

So I hope you could clarify your statement because to me it clearly looks as if you are stating you will actively campaign for Barack Hussein Obama...

Ok just re-read your addendum. Thank you for clarifying your original statement.

I think everyone on this site hates Romney, I'm glad you are going to still vote and vote Tea Party.

I'm not going to vote 'Tea Party'. I'm going to vote for a conservative, that represents my conservative values.

I expect to see a good handful of candidates on the ballot. There will certainly be more than 2.

Maybe you shouldn't assume that it's D vs. R and those are the only choices.

I agree with you. I guess I use "Tea Party" to identify Conservatives. But yes, voting for Conservatives ESPECIALLY at the local level and State level is vital.

Because Crook County stole the election for Pat Quinn he eliminated to conservative districts due to insane gerrymandering while protecting radical psycho black caucus monsters like Danny Davis, Bobby Rush and Jesse Jackson Jr.

Thanks for this thread. I have bookmarked it, as this looks to be a good insight into our chances of influencing the GOP-E in Tampa.

We must move Obamalite Romney off of Obama’s Socialist Wrong Track.

Newt is a very intelligent politician, and maybe he has a better idea than confrontation to move Romney towards the Red, White and Blue, and away from the Romney Pinko.

I have no idea what Summer Soldier Santorum’s effect will be on the GOP-E in Tampa, but he will have a lot of Delegates, so maybe he has a plan.

Ron Paul did better than Gingrich or Santorum in most States last night, but continues to be ignored by all Media and politicians, with the exception of US Sen. Jim DeMint (R-Sc.).

As to the other Candidates who have already dropped out, I’d like to believe that they have had some Conservative influence on Romney. Possibly Romney’s new addition of the “what is unfair” segment in his speech last night was an indication of that.

PREPARE FOR TAMPA! Volunteer to be a conservative voice in Tampa!

Stay the course Newt, as Romney is clueless on how to soundly defeat Obama.

BTW, “T” is for Tampa, TEXAS, and our beloved TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY PARTY!

Hold on NEWT! May 29 in TEXAS could be your BIG DAY!

Get this straight. Maybe you are unable to grasp the fact that I am against Obama and against Romney. They are one in the same to me.
Your lies are getting OLD!

Two years ago I was reading articles by conservatives wondering if President Obama would finish out his full term since he was so incredibly unpopular and the 2010 elections had thrown out many Democrats in Congress, replacing conservative and moderate Democrats with radical conservatives. Now we're looking at the worst possible Republican getting nominated, a man who is politically more liberal than many of those conservative and even moderate Democrats who were defeated in 2010, and we now face the very real risk that Obama will be re-elected.

This didn't happen by accident. Divide-and-conquer works when you don't have enough supporters to win a straight majority. That tactic worked for Romney and it may well work for Obama.

I frankly don't know what I'm going to do if, as now seems all but certain, Romney wins the Republican nomination. I understand the issue of voting one's conscience and I don't know if I can vote for Romney, partly because even if I do vote for him I believe he's going down to a major defeat and partly because even if we wins he's not much better than Obama. I do know that Obama must be very happy with the way the Republican primaries are turning out.

I certainly hope that whatever Freepers do at the presidential level, they turn out and vote for conservative senatorial, congressional, state and local candidates. The presidential race may well be lost. Other races are not.

I think you misread what I said and I misread what you said. A FReeper later clarified that he will campaign against both romney and Obama which is fine. He didn't specify that he would campaign against Obama as well.

I wasn't lying your friend simply didn't clarify his statement until this morning when he added the addendum that he will campaign against Romney and Obama.

I have no problem with you not voting for Romney. My point was I want folks to vote for real conservative candidates in local and state elections. Not settle for RINOs.

I'm sorry if you think I somehow lied about you, as I was referring to your friend who didn't clarify his statement till this morning. His statement last night made it seem to me and others that he would use FR to actively campaign for Obama. This morning he added the addendum that he would camp again against both of them.

I understand you are mad, I was mad when Romney won Illinois. But you can't take your anger out on other FReepers. Especially when I never told you who to vote for nor would I tell any other FReeper who to vote for. That isn't my business.

I don't appreciate you resorting to a personal attack, (calling someone a liar is a personal attack) that is clearly listed when you post on Free Republic as in violation of the rules of Free Republic.
