Gingrich Loses Again, Signals Exit From Race

GOP presidential candidate Newt Gingrich speaks to supporters in Concord, N.C. saying he will evaluate his position in the race over the next few days. By NBC's Alex Moe

CONCORD, NC -- Newt Gingrich alluded that he may exit the presidential race in the coming days after a disappointing finish in the Delaware primary Tuesday night.

“I want you to know over the next few days, we’re going to look realistically at where we are at” in the campaign, Gingrich told a crowd of just one hundred people at his election night rally, calling himself a “citizen” rather than a candidate.

“We want you to know that as citizens, we are going to be right their standing shoulder by shoulder with you and that as we think through about how we can best be effective citizens over the next week or two – we are going to rely on you for help and you for advice,” he said, speaking at his first election night event in nearly two months.

Gingrich hints he may drop from race this week

The former House speaker finished nearly 30 percentage points behind Mitt Romney in Delaware’s primary -- a state Gingrich spent the majority of his time over the past month campaigning in. That was the state Gingrich said he hoped would bring him back into contention in the GOP race.

So where are all the “Without Santorum, Newt will turn this election around” crowd?”

Despite his issues, Santorum was far closer to “Conservative” than the Big-government Socialist Romney. Newt is proving what many of us have been saying- he cannot win. Unfortunately, he played the spoiler to Santorum, whether because he is an idiot, or because his pride overcame brains (or maybe Newt played the useful idiot for the RNC/GOP to preserve Romney’s annointing.

Where are all the Huckabee haters who blasted him for the same role in 2008? Foot, even Huckster would have been a better choice than Romney.

Yeah, all 2 states he won. Well done Newt.

BTW, vote totals, assuming that the counts don’t change in percentage:

Santorum 171k, Paul 151k, Newt 125k. Newt finished dead last tonight.

Make excuses and hate the other conservative. Alot of santos voters were Newts votes trying to stop Romney and the dems voting for him in the open races. Talk radio gave the nod to support Rick not Newt because they know alot of you soc-cons judge others on personal issues and have certain people whom you will forgive. santos convicted Zimmerman, a big no no. He left the race knowing he would not win Pa. Newt is there even tho the media wants him gone. I will take Newt any day over Romney and Bush Jr. who skipped out of Pa race. I am beginning to think you and some of these other haters are getting worried that if something were to happen with Romney, Newt is the one standing with Paul. I hope Newt stays in and talks about his message. If Newt don’t matter, why you and your gang all stressed. Can’t your boy Romney carry his own fight to Obama. You have been busted.

Talk radio gave him the nod. He couldn’t still beat Romney. Talk radio gave you Romney. Ask why they didn’t support Newt and you will find your answers.

Newt indicated on Hannity’s radio show that by staying in the contest until the convention, that he will add his expertise in things that need to be discussed in the platform. He wants to make sure the Republican Party makes a commitment to the effective changes we need to save the country.

If you really are for anyone but Obama you won’t mind others voting for someone other than Romney too.

Sure you can. It will have no effect in the real world, but what's important is you feel good about yourself.

Konnecticut went Romney - not my fault, I voted for Newt.
Now I must do everything I can to ensure a Tea Party-like Congress (to keep our Mittens honest).

Gingrich has never beat Romney outside of the South. If he could defeat Romney for the nomination why is this so?

Newt’s GONE! Forced out!.
He should have quit soon after his thrashing in FL. His baggage could have sunk the Titanic and oceans separated him from women. He never should have gotten into this race. He helped Romney defeat Santorum and that’s it. All the Newtards like lemmings went over the cliff for him.

Your reply really tells us what YOU feel when you vote.

I don’t do it to feel good. You are projecting what you feel onto others.

I don’t do it to feel good.

Then what do you accomplish by voting for someone with no chance to win?

I vote for the person that best represents my interests.

Liberal and Liberal-Lite aren’t going to do that.
