I hadn’t been to Disneyworld for quite some time until last week. I was amazed at how many of those scooters were in use. When I commented to a cast member, she rolled her eyes and said that many people used them like wheelchairs to get special treatment such as being moved to the front of ride lines. When there, they ‘miraculously’ recover enough to hop on board the rides.
I went to Disneyland a couple of years ago after not going for 40 years.
I walk with a cane most days and they did the same for me ... I was embarrassed after I figured out why I got to move ahead of folks waiting longer than me and refused to move up...it ain't right.
Most days the cane is fine but on days when I'm limited to my chair I don't go anywhere.
Funny thing though, Medicare had no problem authorizing the chair but VA will not, even though my disability(ies) are directly related (and documented) to my years in the military and the injuries I got in the Southeast Asia Wargames...the judges say we came in second...damn suck a$$ politicians wouldn't honor their commitment.
