MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County District Attorney's Office says Mobile police have made an arrest in the beating of Matthew Owens.
Authorities say the suspect is 44-year-old Terry Rawls. They say he is charged with first degree assault.
Police say Owens was beaten severely with bats, bricks and a paint can. The attack happened on Saturday, April 21 in the evening on Delmar Drive in Mobile.
Cpl. Chris Levy with Mobile police said their investigation shows the incident stems from an ongoing dispute between the Owens and Rawls.
Police also wanted to release that no one has confirmed that this attack was “in retaliation for Trayvon Martin,” as one witness reported.

This is like the idea that a muslim woman needing 4 witnesses to a rape to not be stoned to death for fornication.

I thought there were three witnesses, not just one, to the Trayvon statement.

“It’s really been blown out of proportion, and I would just caution people not to be a part of threat,” said Jones.”
Black mayor downplaying the fact that Urban Feral blacks mobbed a white, made hate comments and Mr. Mayor is doing the usual black race pimp “Shuck ‘N Jive” to cover for his constituents.
I'm not surprised that your surprised at the national attention the attack is getting, Mr Mayor.
Unfortunately this is the way things shake out these days.
Why one? Why not all twenty arrested?

My opinion about the mayor, (and mine only), maybe he is trying to diffuse the situation a bit? Wouldn’t that be a good thing?
If everybody just stepped back and cooled off and reassessed the Martin/Zimmerman case, and put the blame where it rightfully belongs... in the lap of the MSM for THEIR SHAMELESS RACE BAITING, then this could be resolved without any further violence. I don’t want a race war. Do you?
Everyone who struck Owens needs to be arrested.
And, everyone who didn't try to stop it should be held for days and questioned in a very uncomfortable manner.

Rawls has a lengthy criminal history, including a previous conviction for first-degree assault, according to court records. After pleading guilty to the charge in 2000, Judge Joseph Johnston sentenced him to 15 years, with 2 of those to be served in prison and the balance to be suspended.
Rawls was arrested again in 2004 on a pair of third-degree burglary charges, records show, though one of those was dropped. After Rawls pleaded guilty, Johnston sentenced him to 15 years, though only one of those was to be served in confinement, the rest suspended.
Prior to those charges, Rawls was arrested and convicted of first-degree theft of property and firing a weapon into a building or vehicle.
