If your spell check is thorough, it wouldn't flag 'indite.' Indite is a word. It means to set out in writing.
Indict and indite are homophones - words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and have different meanings. Indict and indite are both legitimate words, and both are verbs, so spell check shouldn't have caught 'indite.'
I have the same problem when my spell checker won’t catch when I mistakenly write “jerk” for “Obama.” They are both words, so it does not edit...or maybe it knows somethings more than I think it does...
