Oh, golly .. like maybe I travel frequently (2-3 trips a month) for the past several years. I’ve been in pretty much every major hub in the US, and have stood in many, many security lines.
The worst line I have encountered was 25 minutes (Minneapolis) - now, if you arrive 1 hour before your departure time, that leaves you 20 minutes to get to your gate, and 15 minutes to spare.
If you are an idiot, and show up at security 5 minutes before your flight leaves ... do NOT blame the TSA. Isn’t it interesting that NO MENTION of how long it took the TSA to process these folk is mentioned in the article?
I see thousands of people go through security checkpoints (airports, where I work, customs, border crossings, International Customs at foreign airports) and guess what? Folk in wheelchairs tend to zip through security quickly, as do people on crutches ... and even (gasp) people with debilitating diseases. They are through security in about 3-4 minutes, as crutches need to be inspected to ensure no weapons are hidden in the metal supports.
