During the Bush years, Bush was often compared to Hitler or Mussolini,. The focus of the attacks had to do with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and angst over the supposed erosion of civil liberties due to warrantless wiretaps, among other things. There was a lot of hyperbole. Bush was a monkey, a Nazi, a Fascist, the devils spawn. The hyperbole became so hysterical some conservatives jokingly took to calling President Bush Chimpy McBushHitler Halliburton. Many on the right go too far in attacking the motives of President Obama in the same way the left attacked Bush. It is neither rational nor sane.

“Many on the right go too far in attacking the motives of President Obama in the same way the left attacked Bush. It is neither rational nor sane.”
Wrong. No moral equivalence on this one.
Obama was born and raised an America hater.
I am with you on this. No comparison. The “ideals” of liberalism are at odds with personal freedoms and liberties. The only way to have liberalism or its cousin socialism is to impose it via fascism. Everyone knows where that leads - to millions of graves.
This asshole is so full of SH*T my computer smells!
(paraphrasing) 'bam's not a fascist, he wants everybody to do what seems to him best and most fair for all.
Fascists are people like Mussolini, who also wanted everybody to do what seemed to him the best for all. But he was really mean.
Obama's more like Wilson, who like Mussolini, wanted everybody to do as he thought was fair and best...etc. But Wilson wasn't like Mussolini, he was just another arrogant Ivy-league asshole who championed eugenics, unofficial brown-shirt organizations and hounded and oppressed anyone who he thought opposed him.
But Wilson wasn't a fascist because Mussolini was a fascist and Wilson wasn't as bad as Il Ducci, so 'bams not a fascist because he's like Wilson.
Hope this clears up any misunderstandings.
This Erickson is a real genuine neocon elitist establishment prick.
Strange Article. Starts out by saying Obama isn’t a Fascist. Then lay’s out, in detail, how his administration, and supporting liberal groups, are behaving just like fascists.
When are we going to get a clue and stop calling collectivists “liberals?” Actually they are “conservatives.” They want to keep the status quo of the incessant movement towards more socialism. WE who believe in free market capitalism and limited government are the true “liberals” which means lovers of liberty.
In short: “Obama isn’t a fascist because he smiles and can sing! Isn’t that cool? Cool people can’t be yucky ol’ fascists, can they?”
Actually there is not too much difference between Bush and Obama when it comes to these issues. They both are basically progressives that believe the government can and should control and manage both the general economy and individuals. Bush’s classic quote, “Ive abandoned free market principles to save the free market system” pretty much speaks to how he really thought when push comes to shove.
Sure there were some difference between the two on social issues but even there Bush and Republicans in general have been intentionally weak and ineffective. Even Bush’s Supreme Court appointees (at least the ones he wanted to appoint) were weak until a general out cry by the conservative base forced him to appoint more conservative Justices.
Both parties enthusiastically support Fascist laws and regulations and the destruction of our liberties. The Patriot act in one, but that fact that the EPA, FDA, ATF, TSA and all the other governmental agencies continue to grow no matter who is in office gives you a clue that both sides really do want government in every aspect of your life so that they can control everything that you do, say or think. It’s an elite thing more than anything and all of them in Washington are elites.
Now, that definition I pulled off the web is obviously somewhat slanted since it equates fascism with extreme right-wing views. Yes, an extremist right wing outlook can result in fascism. But so can an extreme left-wing view.
Authoritarian? How about hussein's administration imposing its will on us via czars and an outright un-Constitutional abuse of executive power? Thou shalt have healthcare insurance! Thou shalt go green because we're making gas $5 a gallon or more. Thou shalt depend on the government because we're destroying the private sector. Thou shalt not overly succeed else we'll demonize you. Thou shalt not have incandescent lightbulbs. (that one died, right?) Thou shalt sacrifice personal freedoms and liberties for the greater good...
Speaking of social organization, just who is trying to impose their ideal of social organization on us? I'll give you slow liberal lurkers a hint: think redistribution of wealth. OWS, and other BS.
Or how about that intolerant thing. You want to find the most intolerant person in the room? Look for the liberal promoting diversity, acceptance, etc. Tell them you are against gay marriage (but maybe ok with civil unions for legal reasons), pro secure borders, pro life, don't trust Muslims, think the government is too big and powerful, etc. Then watch the personal attacks on you begin. Mr. or Ms. or Mrs. "tolerance" will practically froth at the mouth telling you what a bigoted, opinionated {expletive} you are and how you should be {expletive} etc. That's the difference between liberal tolerance and conservative tolerance. Conservatives have strong opinions and beliefs, and are tolerant of and respectful of other's opinions and beliefs, even if/when we disagree with them. Liberals on the other hand feel that anyone that doesn't ascribe to their personal set of beliefs, no matter how disjointed, inconsistent, and contradictory they are, must be a {expletive} and is fair game for any kind of low, vile personal attack and abuse. In other words, the exact opposite of what they espouse.
Bush wasn't a communist sired by communists and tutored by communists. Bush didn't lock away his entire life history in a vault for no one to find. Bush didn't present forged credentials to the public. Bush didn't foment class warfare, gender warfare, racial warfare and age warfare. Bush didn't let lies roll off his tongue every time he opened his mouth. Bush didn't preside over the most massive give-aways to cronies in the history of the Republic. Bush didn't drive us into a fiscal calamity that may cause the nation to fail. Fighting Obama tooth and nail is both rational and sane. All of us wish the Republicans would grow some 'nads and take the fight to the bastard.
This is an important point.
Conservatives conserve, among other things, two central tenants without which no government or culture can remain free: the rights of the minority, and the right to hold property. When we observe these, we seem tolerant and respectful.
The definition of fascist as "right wing" is false. To begin with, the terms left and right wing go back to the French Revolution and basically denoted one's place in the Que to the Guillotine. It has little relevance today, but if we're still going to use the designation, then Robespierre seized power from the left side of the National Assembly, and he was arguably one of the earlier examples of a fascist.
Fascism arises out of the left, and it's more a symptom of a deeper political and cultural decay: aesthetic appeals (ex. "fairness") begin to replace the rational rule of any legal code. The legal code loses it's moorings in morality. Feelings eclipse logical decisions and administration becomes arbitrary, and the entire body politic becomes the prey to the most audacious, malicious and conniving. Government becomes institutional brigandage.
There is one reason Obama and Wilson did not become fascists: the Constitution has proved itself too strong for them. God bless our founders.
The more I listen to Obama and his appointees, the more I am reminded of Lenin’s “vanguard of professional revolutionaries”.
Over the past few months, I’ve shifted my history reading to communism. I too am struck by the many parallels in thought, word, deed, and behavior between commies, Obama, Democrats and other assorted parasites.
You nailed it right there. Liberals succumb to ideas and ideals that sound great and make them feel good. But the practical consequences of them are horrendous.
Why I have my tagline.
