I find it hard to believe that you take offense at “Thank you for your opinion.”
How did that appear negative to you in any way? You ascribed negativity when you could just as well have smiled and said, “You’re welcome.”
You could have made a friend.

It’s an evasive tactic used to get out of a debate that you werent prepared for. I dont think she was looking to make friends by saying that.
