That’s okay. I could give a hoot if Asia gets shipments of US Marcellus Shale. I would like the US to use US resources so we don’t have to deal with the Arabs anymore.

I agree with the sentiment, but I'm pretty sure that almost all of our petroleum imports come from Canada and Mexico. To deal the Arabs and other malcontents a blow we would need to use the strategic oil reserve as a weapon against OPEC. Even though we get very little oil from them they control the global price with their cartel.

That’s a great idea. We should do our own oil cartel.

We should get something big out of it for all the suffering local communities put up with to host the industry. We should also work it out so that our resources help offset the debt. It should not just go straight into the global market place and do nothing for the US. And if it does not do ALOT, forget it. We’ll be wasting it and it is a terrible burden on people who live around it.

The top five sources of imported oil to the US are Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Nigeria, and Saudi Arabia. Saudis are happy to deal with us. The rest of the Middle East is peripheral for our purposes.
