Young women in four Bay Area counties can now test themselves at home for sexually transmitted infections, and then get the results and any needed prescriptions without ever visiting a doctor's office or clinic.
The home tests are part of a pilot project designed to give women who have had unprotected sex, or are just curious about their health status, a convenient, cost-effective and potentially less embarrassing way to get screened for STDs, public health officials said.
The women will be able to test themselves for chlamydia, gonorrhea and trichomoniasis, which are among the most common STDs. Those infections often don't cause symptoms, but they can cause devastating long-term health problems and infertility if left untreated.

But of course this would come from Nancy Pelosi’s back yard...bleeech
This “service” has been available for a while now and information about it disseminated in the high schools because that’s Ground Zero for STDs.
Kids are too embarrassed or ignore the symptoms until the STD has damaged their bodies, especially the girls.
One of the reasons for the high numbers of infertility and the market for IVF treatments is previous STDs and PIDs (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease) contracted while a teen — which can block the delicate fallopian tubes.
Later, when the girl tries to get pregnant, she finds out her tubes are blocked from the STD infections she had years ago — or worse, she may have an ectopic (or tubal) pregnancy which is a life-threatening situation. (I know of a young woman who lost her life from an ectopic pregnancy, she bled out before the ambulance arrived).
Yes, I know teens shouldn’t be having sex — but the sad fact is, they are.
There’s nothing more embarrassing than having the neighbors know your house has contracted an STD.
An aspirin, held between the knees, would take care of this.
I know some girls that have HPV-2 contracted during HS and college. They are not slutty, actually very nice, well educated but did have sex with their bf's who gave it to them. Of course 30% of my generation has STD's and at times I think that figure is low.
If someone came out with a home kit that detects HPV in a few minutes it would be worth a fortune.
This is the dark side of the irresponsible ideas propagated in a purely hedonistic society that is simply looking to maximize personal pleasure or benefit in disregard of consequences or a long term perspective.
Not looking for your mate who is straight out of the joint is a good practice too. STDs are rampant in prison.
Okay, I’m up to it they are!
I thought nobody got that any more now that we have to cook the pork to 180-degrees.
Sandra! Oh, Sandra! Isn’t this wonderful? Now if you can just get someone else to pay for them.
It’s only for women? Isn’t that discrimination?
What was that joke from the 80s when AIDS first came out....
“WOOOO HOOOO!!!! IT’S SYPHILIS!!!”
The percentage of women who have HPV is more like 50%.
Later, when the girl tries to get pregnant, she finds out her tubes are blocked from the STD infections she had years ago
Sounds like consequences of ignoring natural law which the Creator would foresee and warn us about. He even wrote a banned commandment warning about it - Don’t do adultery.
Homosexuality has terrible consequences - mental and physical. A lot of Black women and children are catching AIDS from bi-sexual men who have been in prison. Yet Americans permit public school sluts to sexually groom their children for disease, suffering and death.
They call sex outside of marriage and love sexual “freedom” but it is not free. It has a heavy price - even for future generations.
chlamydia = clitty litter?
I would not doubt it. I'm Catholic and our church still uses the one wine glass where everyone drinks out of it and they just wipe it off with same towel after each person takes a drink.
No thanks. Yuck. Besides the possible HPV, the swill that must be swirling.

No thanks. Yuck. Besides the possible HPV, the spit and backwash that must be swirling in that glass.
Can't believe the church still does this. Wait until the congregation comes out with mass HPV sores and the lawsuit that arises.
“The home tests are part of a pilot project designed to give women who have had unprotected sex,”
This pilot project will leave the test subjects infertile or dead. The malpractice lawyers must have had a hand in this going forward while they grinned in anticipation of big monetary rewards to come.
