Meet the First Obama Girlfriend

It only took nearly six years for the media to begin vetting President Obama’s past.

Today, Vanity Fair released an excerpt from a new biography of Barack Obama by David Maraniss. The excerpt discusses Barack Obama's first love affair, with a white Australian woman named Genevieve Cook. It's a telling examination of who Obama was as a young man -- and it shows a self-absorbed "internationalist" with delusions of grandeur.

The book itself sounds like an ode to Obama. Maraniss writes, “At age 20, Obama was a man of the world … He could not be of one place, rooted and provincial.” No, says Maraniss, this was a broadminded young man who “knew the ways of different cultures better than he knew himself.”

When he first moved to New York, he was in the midst of an affair with Alexandra McNear, a girl from Occidental. They exchanged a series of purple letters with one another – turgid missives from overfevered young minds. Here, for example, is tendentious Obama explaining poetry to his young girlfriend:

I haven’t read “The Waste Land” for a year, and I never did bother to check all the footnotes. But I will hazard these statements—Eliot contains the same ecstatic vision which runs from Münzer to Yeats. However, he retains a grounding in the social reality/order of his time. Facing what he perceives as a choice between ecstatic chaos and lifeless mechanistic order, he accedes to maintaining a separation of asexual purity and brutal sexual reality. And he wears a stoical face before this. Read his essay on Tradition and the Individual Talent, as well as Four Quartets,

FWIW....come to understand exactly what Stanley Armour and Stanley Anne are doing in Lebanon in 1952...and you’ll understand what ‘Bammy was doing in Berlin...in 2008 ..BEFORE even winning election.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/07/24/obama-in-berlin-video-of_n_114771.html

I have no doubt that the two are related...His electoral defeat this fall requires a thorough understanding of the geopolitical dynamic that generated these two preceding events.

I’m sure none of this is on any Pubbies radar anywhere...

so cousins...but that doesn’t mean they had the money..I think Edward made it.

Would that be the New World Order?

Jessup was well connected. Jessup was good friends with Dean Acheson

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dean_Acheson

Obama’s family was involved with the spooks.

Cook had been living with the stepfather and then moved in with Obama (if I have this right..I haven’t throughly read all the excerpts from the book)

Perhaps Jessup is the missing key that we didn’t know about until now

“The name Dean Acheson isn’t well-known to Americans under 50, but his role in steering our nation into the new world order was crucial.”

http://www.reformed-theology.org/html/issue05/acheson.htm

Don’t know how much of this article is true but there is more than one author that says Dean was part of the New World order ..and Dean was good friends with Jessup.

Mccarthy wanted a jury trial for Jessup and Acheson and said he was risk his Senate seat to do it. Perhaps hyperbole since he knew he couldn’t get them into court.

Poppers or sex produced lower body stink

And then there is Hillary partying in Columbia with what many consider her to be holding a bottle of poppers. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2872707/posts

No way. It’s just a generic Walmart special. There are also a couple of those 70s goose down jackets in the closet.

Fred...what’s the Reggie Love story? I saw a snippet in the past few days that he got booted from Duke(?) but I don’t know the details and there’s nothing on Drudge.

The plaid shirt and jeans in the O photo reminds me of the one of his domestic terrorist friend, William Ayres.

@It was a Members Only jacket according to the website linked.

The text says:

“at columbia (undergrad)

Forget the Great Depression. The Great Decline can be traced to enrollment into Columbia University. Out is the afro and devil-may-care carriage. In is seriousness and an un-ironic leather Members Only jacket.”

Which suggests a figure of speech maybe and not that the jacket was some kind of uniform, surely?

Got me! I know that it was a big deal in the gay community back in the day.
Lots of "gay only" apparel out there.

Since it's such a consistent theme I was thinking that if the make and model was known then it would narrow down when it was available.
For instance...he couldn't be wearing it in 1982 if it didn't come out till 1983. {;^)
