Leading U.S. Muslim jurist: Female genital mutilation an "honor" in Islam
Jihad Watch ^ | 5/3/12 | Robert

Posted on 05/03/2012 12:55:27 PM PDT by Nachum

How is it that Dr. Hatem al-Haj, a fellow at the American Academy of Pediatrics and a leading Muslim jurist, misunderstands Islamic law so severely as to think that this purely cultural practice has something to do with Islam? Surely it can't be that the mainstream media and Islamic leaders in the U.S. have been lying to us, and FGM really is justified in Islam, could it? Naaah.

"AMJA Senior Committee Member: Female Genital Mutilation Is 'an Honor' per Islam," from Translating Jihad, April 27 (thanks to all who sent this in):

A couple of weeks ago I posted a translation of a paper by Association of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) senior committee member Dr. Hatem al-Haj, PhD, MD, in which he warned American Muslims against working in law enforcement in our 'infidel' nation (see here for more details). Now in my latest translation, Dr. al-Haj explains why female circumcision is recommended and even 'an honor' for women....

Below is my excerpted translation of the 41-page Arabic-language paper by Dr. Hatem al-Haj entitled "Circumcision of Girls: Jurisprudence and Medicine" (see the original here and here):

The ruling on circumcision: Scholars have differed on the ruling on circumcision. They have agreed on its legitimacy for both sexes, but beyond that they have differed. Some--most famously the Shafi’ites--believe that it is obligatory for both sexes. Some believe it is obligatory for men only, and some believe it is recommended for both. At the very least it can be said that for women it is an honor, and for men it is sunnah [i.e. it is in accord with the tradition of Muhammad].

In truth, it is simply that Islamic “scholars” view women as son-making machines. They are not supposed to enjoy the reproductive act, ant that is why it is such an honor to have such an item which would allow it, removed... Women are chattel and men are in control. Of course if someone removed the good doctors “tip” we could see how he would respond to an equivalent “surgery” as he is advocating for females.

Well, let's make it official then. Bush adopted the phrase Religion of Peace. He said it in a very public way on several occasions. Another example of your boy "hero" being all compassionately squishy.

NOTE: The name of the member of the American Academy of Pediatrics is a Muslim whose first name is “Hatem”, and hating is what Muslims are good at. His last name is - this is NOT a joke ‘al-Haj’.

Another Muslim whose utterances prove why Islam is antithetical to, and irreconcilable with, America.

Islam Delenda Est - because of what Islam is and what Muslims do.

I was so bleeping angered by this piece that I called Albert Lea Medical Center in Minnesota (Rochester,MN I think) where this clown is on the medical staff.I talked to a secretary in the Dept of Pediatrics (this clown's a pediatrician) and was told that the hospital *is* investigating him, that they have heard these allegations. They said that they'll get back to me so I gave them my junk e-mail address (don't want any of Farrakan's punks appearing at my door).BTW,Albert Lea Medical Center is a teaching hospital of the Mayo Clinic...those who know medicine know that Mayo is about the best, and most famous,in the world.

I think my next call will be to the Minnesota Board of Registration In Medicine.

There's an argument to be made in favor of it for boys.Studies have shown fewer incidents of cancers in males who've had it.Apart from pain I don't know if there's any real downside.

For girls there's no upside...it's just a barbaric act of 9th Century knuckledraggers.

Thanks a lot.I have a background in the medical biz...many years at a major Boston hospital...so I kinda know how this works and who to call.I think tomorrow I'll call the state licensing board to see what,if anything,*they* have to say. If,by chance,Minnesota pulls his license then he's done as a physician in this country. It works the same way as with a driver's license...if it's suspended or pulled in one state you can't get one in any other.

Well there is certainly less breast cancer in women who have had their breasts removed - and less cancer of the prostate in those who have had their prostate removed - and eunuchs never seem to get testicular cancer.

Penis cancer is very rare. Getting part of your penis removed because it reduces that risk is like a woman getting part of her breasts removed to reduce the risk of breast cancer (well other than that breast cancer is much more prevalent).

Members of the Saudi Royal Family are known to seek treatment at several major US hospitals,as well as hospitals in Britain and elsewhere.I spent a long time at a major Boston hospital and we regularly had members of that family as patients.I heard many stories...which I'm not at liberty to divulge (no,not all of them bad).

Maybe the fact that Bush has killed more muslims than any of you computer warriors will ever see, does allow him to engage in occasional diplomacy in speeches. Is that okay? Is it okay that he was ordering the mass extermination of THOUSANDS of islamic terrorists while appreciating that there might be seven or eight who don't stand with them?

I'm sure you would have approached this issue MUCH differently. Being such a manly man and all.

I have seen several muslim couples at the Houston medical center too. Women in black totally covered from head to foot ,headscarves covering everything but their eyes. The men with them are expensively dressed. We have a lot of regular muslims living here, but the women don't cover their faces like I have seen at the med center.

Vast majority of muslims are AGAINST FGM. The ones who practice it are mostly African and it is more a cultural than religious thing.

All the ones who do practice it in say England are from Somali or other African countries.

I do know some muslims and they look upon it (and african muslims) as savages.

Bush was a liberal moron. He had good intentions but we all know where those lead - most liberals have good intentions.

Some of those good intentions couple with abysmal ignorance (I hope) lead to many thousands of our best young people killed and maimed and a couple of trillion dollars wasted. We accomplished and will accomplish exactly nothing in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Calling someone a loser because they are pointing out the perils of liberal action seems incongruous with the basic premise of this forum.

Could it be that most of the attackers were Saudis? How is it that GHWB was close friends of the House of Saud, when they use our money to spread Whabbism around the world?

Do you remember how hard GW fought to open the Borders and pass "Comprehensive" immigration reform? Do you remember how hard he fought to open up our borders to Mexican trucks? Do you remember the fence he said he would build if only we would vote for him again, then had Kay Bailey defund it immediately after the election? And let us not forget this one, I have to destroy Capitalism in order to save it, we must have TARP.

Post 9/11 the following should have happened:

1. A few weeks after there should have been intensive investigations as to who failed in the FBI and CIA and there should have been multiple firings and pension-ectomies of the peope who ignored the cries of their subordinates who were warning about the hijackers. The people who were warning about it should have been promoted and even replaced their dumbasses bosses who were fired.

2. We should have declared WAR capital W on Saudia Arabia for funding sharia and wahabism over the globe that led to this.

3. We should have called pooty poot and told him there are two missles that will be launched and not tow orry because they are going to pass over the soviet union.

4. We should have taken over a good 1/2 of the Saudi Oil fields as War reparations for the attacks against our civillians on 9/11.

5. THEN go after Bin Laden.

IIRC, over 90% of Egyptian females subjected to FGM -- but then, Egypt is in Africa. (And Islam is the dominant religion by far.)

It may be a cultural thing, but Islam swept away a lot of cultural things wherever it took hold; why not this thing?

That's a rhetorical question.

Do consider a quick Google search before posting such egregious Muslim talking points.

In Egypt, somewhere between 80 and 90 percent of the Muslim women have been held down and mutilated.

PS A Muslim calling anyone a ‘savage” is the worst case of pot badmouthing kettle one can imagine.

You're a liar. No one is that stupid.

Richard Clarke arranged for members of the Royal family to return to SA post 9/11 WHEN PLANES WERE ALLOWED TO RETURN TO SERVICE. He testified about it at the 9/11 hearings.

Bush had nothing to do with it. Richard Clarke hates Bush because he wasn't promoted. So he quit, wrote a book, testified for the DEMOCRATS and works for MSNBC.

The rest of your stupid post is too ignorant to bother with. Especially amusing is your infantile understanding of TARP.

Read a book. It won't help, but you'll see lots a pretty pictures.

And beware the Build-A-Burgers!!!

And the NEW WORLD ORDER!!!! (whatever the f that is)
