The Germans call it the Nordsee, the British call it the German Sea and the Americans call it the North Sea. The British and Americans call it the English Channel, the French all it La Manche, "The Sleeve".

No, the British have always called it the “North Sea” - heck, it's where they get their North Sea Oil/Gas from...:^)

Even the UK Admiralty sells North Sea Approaches charts.
