The Navy has been calling it the Arabian Gulf for a while now, I suspect to piss off the Iranians, but it also makes for better acronyms-NAG (Northern Arabian Gulf), CAG (Central), SAG.
If I was someone like Google in the middle, I would just label it The Gulf.
