The pertinent fact is that Zimmerman found Trayvon suspicious because, as he told the 911 dispatcher, the boy was walking slowly and looking around. That might be the behavior of a boy who was turned around in an unfamiliar neighborhood. Or of a boy enjoying a cell phone conversation with a girl and not overly eager to return to where his sweet nothings might be overheard by his dad.

Leonard, she was a female who was an electronic media friend. When she heard "Trayvon" was killed, she didn't, at first, realize who that was.

And little Trayvon was unsure of where he was in an unfamiliar neighborhood? But he knew where the 7-11 was to buy Skittles and Arizona Iced Tea and could find his way there and back while talking on a cell phone. Doesn't sound too lost to me. No record at all of his calling his dad or his dad's girlfriend and saying, "Hey, I got the Skittles and I made it back to the neighborhood, but I forgot where your house is. Can you give me directions? Oh, and there's some white Hispanic guy been following me around."

According to his father, by some reports, Trayvon had said he was going to spend the night at a friend's place; at any rate, his father didn't notice him missing until the next day. He didn't want to be overheard by Dad whispering "sweet nothings" to his "girlfriend"? They got a place at home where boys do that (and other things) without being overheard by Dad--it's called the bathroom. Besides, the records show that much of his online communication was texting, nothing that Dad could overhear.

It was cold and raining, yet he was wandering around in between complexes off the main walk, just looking around? You know what keeps young black thugs from hanging out and socializing on the streets in Chicago? Cold and rain.

That no such alternate possibilities seem to have occurred to Zimmerman for even an instant suggests the degree to which we as a people have grown comfortable with the belief that black is crime and crime is black.

Funny how reality tends to give rise to certain ideas, huh, even to such as Jesse Jackson who said if he heard someone walking behind him at night and looked to see it was a white guy he'd feel relieved?

Leonard, you are the pits.

Interracial Crime Of the nearly 770,000 violent interracial crimes committed every year involving blacks and whites, blacks commit 85 percent and whites commit 15 percent.
• Blacks commit more violent crime against whites than against blacks. Fortyfive percent of their victims are white, 43 percent are black, and 10 percent are Hispanic. When whites commit violent crime, only three percent of their victims are black.
• Blacks are an estimated 39 times more likely to commit a violent crime against a white than vice versa, and 136 times more likely to commit robbery.
• Blacks are 2.25 times more likely to commit officially-designated hate crimes against whites than vice versa.
Gangs
• Only 10 percent of youth gang members are white.
• Hispanics are 19 times more likely than whites to be members of youth gangs.
• Blacks are 15 times more likely, and Asians are nine times more likely.
Incarceration
• Between 1980 and 2003 the US incarceration rate more than tripled, from 139 to 482 per 100,000, and the number of prisoners increased from 320,000 to 1.39 million.
• Blacks are seven times more likely to be in prison than whites.
• Hispanics are three times more likely.

I’m waiting for more information to come out. I suspect Trayvon was involved in earlier break-ins and his father knew it.

Why else would he call the police the next morning and ask if Trayvon had been arrested.
