10 Top Court Candidates (If Romney Wins)
The Fiscal Times ^ | April 25, 2012 | David Ingram

Posted on 05/06/2012 9:59:27 AM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Paul Clement, who served as U.S. solicitor general under President George W. Bush and is now a lawyer in private practice, is the favorite of many conservatives. Clement argued last month for the Supreme Court to strike down Obama's 2010 healthcare law, and he is defending laws that ban same-sex marriage and that target illegal immigrants. Clement, 45, would be "at the top of any short list right now," said Curt Levey, executive director of the Committee for Justice, a group that advocates for conservative nominees.

Asked about Clement, Mary Ann Glendon, a co-chairwoman of Romney's Justice Advisory Committee, voiced "unbounded admiration" for him. "He's the type of person who fits the mold that the governor has pledged to look for," Glendon said, adding that "it's much too soon to speculate about names."

Mentioned as often as Clement is Judge Brett Kavanaugh of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Kavanaugh, 47, sits on a court that produced four sitting justices. He has deep roots in Washington, D.C., having worked in the Bush White House and assisted in the 1990s investigation that nearly led to President Bill Clinton's ouster. Kavanaugh is known for elaborate opinions such as a 65-page dissent he wrote in November exploring how an 1867 tax law barred courts from considering Obama's healthcare law until 2015.

A third possibility, Judge Diane Sykes, is often mentioned as a likely Romney nominee if the next person to leave the Supreme Court is Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the court's senior woman justice. Ginsburg has survived cancer twice. Sykes, 54, was appointed to a Chicago-based U.S. appeals court in 2004, overcoming Democratic criticism of her record in abortion-related cases.

I agree.

I’m not interested in any strategic truces with the GOP-E, Nope. Not any more.

It’s time to crush them, drive them before us, and listen to the lamentation of their women.

The state Executive Council has to clear them and every member of it has been a DemocRAT for many, many years.

Nevertheless, Romney consistently chose the worst of the options, especially as that pertains to being the most gay agenda-friendly, every time.

Who is more likely to allow radical Islam to get a nuke?

Who is more likely to persecute religious believers?

Who is more likely to rule with an iron fist, and try his best to eliminate the ability of Conservatives to ever resist or roll back his programs?

OBAMA!

You are delusional.
Not a single elected official agrees with you on strategy or goals.
You have no clue how to advance the conservative cause, you simply advocate mindless, immature, sabotage:

“Lets teach the GOP a lesson by being a bunch of mindless jerks” -—

Ya, people will REALLY listen to you in 4 years, when the next nomination season is in full swing ——

Provided the Tyrant Obama does not outlaw the Republican Party and the Conservative movement, by then, of course!

My favorite phrase here is “utterly destroy Lugar in Indiana”, a process now very much underway. Richard “Law of the Sea Treaty (LOST)” Lugar should have been dumped long ago. He’s about as conservative as Romney.

“I see you brought out all the Romney haters on this thread.”

Whoops! He is not my first choice at all. Still, removing Obama and his minions is what matters more than anything.

Thanks. I suspected they had to either be chosen for a list provided from some group or at least be confirmed by the legislature. Thus the governor is limited in some ways as to whom he may choose.

Of course not a single elected official agrees with this strategy or goal - they’re part of the problem to begin with. Why would they want to end the system that is enriching and empowering them?

It’s time to end the GOP. There is simply no reason for its existence any more other than as a patronage ring for up-and-coming Republican politicians.

I am amused that if a person opposes Romney on his long record they hate him or are shills for BHO.
Get a grip, opposing the liberal called Romney is not hate.

Obama will give us left wing appointments.

Romney will give us "conservative" appointments who will "grow."

If you get my drift.

I have enough of a grip on reality to know I have two choices at this point, Obama or Romney. How about you?

Your reply has nothing to do with what I said.
Romney is not the nominee until after the vote at the convention, neither is BHO for that matter.
Back to the point, you contend anyone who opposes Romney's liberalism hates him or is a shill for BHO - you are wrong. Opposition is not hate nor is it shilling.

Thanks for the reference, cf.

Poor Romney. Boxed in, huh?

The same with his production of the individual mandate, his fluid support of abortion on demand and his appointments of the like minded to the insurance planning & enforcement panels? His audience with the Catholic Church on the problems this poses for their charitable institutions and hospitals? Oh, he didn’t have one? Boxed in again, I’m sure.

Poor Romney. Boxed in....like a dog in a crate on top of a speeding car. Just, dang. Romney has the worst luck.
