I understand and I vbet you didn’t just throw your trash all over campus.
If you ever look at the areas after a leftist rally ( including the inauguration of 0dumbo0 it is filled with trash.
most campuses are not all that different espeically the most liberal ones. The sense of entitlement extends to someone else picking up your trash
so of course you are right. it shouldn’t have to be provided for them
but I’d rather see some water fill up stations( formerly known as water fountains) than a beautiful campus strewn with plastic bottles
Maybe someone will invent a cooled water dispensing machine - they could call it something like a “water fountain”
If bottled water is so bad...why not stop it NOW???

When I see a piece of trash on the sidewalk, particularly near a garbage can, I often pick it up and throw it in. I spend a lot of time in areas predominately liberal (hard to help it in Manhattan) and I've never yet seen anyone else do it. Meanwhile, they're supposed to be 'like' sooo "environmentally conscious". They don't even bother to tell someone when their headlights are off. Lazy, selfish, unobservant people.
A water cooler lowers the water temperature, while a drinking fountain is intended to drink from the water supply. A water fountain is an architectural appurtenance for aesthetics.
The move to get rid of bottled water is smart from a hygienic perspective. Unlike public water distribution systems, bottled water is not as well regulated to ensure the public safety. Water tends to become more unsanitary the longer it remains idle with just a small amount of biologicals seeking something to feed upon.
A single molecule of water in a public utility system is very likely to be discharged from the tap within a day to a week from the original water source (river, reservoir, stream, well, lake), whereas bottled water is likely to have sitting like Petri dish for months to years.
Surface water must be filtered prior to distribution and unlike a decade or two ago, many, if not most water distribution networks today are made from PVC piping instead of ferrous or steel pipe, with very little influence of corrosion upon the water quality.
As a utility, public water systems are designed to provide a commonly used resource at the least cost.
In summary, it’s stupid not to drink tap water, unless the water sources in your area are polluted, in which case federal law mandates the notification of such hazards to the public.
Ah, but if people will buy it, why not sell it? Supply and demand. Kids with coolers and a bit of sense can start making money hand over fist by buying the 24-packs in grocery stores and re-selling single bottles to kids on campus. The poor school will lose money to young entrepreneurs; wait, this is starting to sound awesome.
I actually only drink bottled water, but that’s because water tastes terrible to me and the bottled stuff tastes more like the plastic it’s been sitting in than pipes. I’m perfectly happy to drink juice or soda instead (extremely healthy, I know, but at least that’s probably worth $2-3). I’m happy to shell out for something that tastes better to me. It’s also more convenient; nothing to clean! Nothing to carry around with you well after you’re done drinking. It would annoy me if I had something I enjoyed and was willing to pay for taken away because someone wanted to raise awareness and reduce the environmental footprint.
But, I do agree that it seems ridiculous to pay good money for something that’s 3 cents from your tap. So I say as I drink a bottle of water that is both tolerable and convenient.
Smug, supercilious conceit and arrogance will always find a way to express itself! :)
It's just my natural instinct to try and offer sensible advise to people, rather than take advantage of their foolishness. Not saying there aren't occasional times when it makes practical sense to buy bottled water.
Just so. We have far too many who believe that challenging the activities of others is OK as long as you’re on the ‘right’ side of the issue.

In Rome, if you carry a bottle with you, you can fill it up in the fountains all over the city. Otherwise, it’s about 2 euros.

Can I get up in the middle of a lecture and go to a water fountain for a drink? I would rather have a bottle and be able to take a drink from my desk.

Suppose I go visit this university and have failed to remember to bring along my refillable water bottle. I become thirsty and decide to purchase a bottled beverage so that I can have a bottle which I can refill later in the day. I no longer have the choice to buy just plain old water, the best option for hydration, I believe. My choice is probably going to be among some carbonated beverages, which I don’t like that much. Water drinkers are being discriminated against!
Just don’t ban beer!
Or birth control.
Or abortions.
But water and junk food - screw it!
