I watched a large part of the debate. It was interesting to see the varying opinions and bedfellows. One Democrat said he was voting in favor of the proposal because it would help women and "people of color." One very left-wing, multi-Ivy League-school educated Rep from Brooklyn, NY said she got over the Dodgers leaving Brooklyn and voted against it. A Republican was somewhat amusing in his vocabulary describing his support of the bill, expanded fireworks, something about added revenue from booze and increased gambling revenue by repeatedly saying "I am not guilty" if someone gets drunks and blows all his money betting.

So the stadium bill is ready to pass, but the Vikings ownership and NFL think it’s outrageous they should have to pay at least half.

The same people who whine about evil rich and corporations “ not paying their fair share” are all for the taxpayer paying most of it.

Another example that people can rationalize anything if it’s something they like.

You mean like Norm Coleman? What's with all the Gothamites fleeing to the Land of 10,000 Lakes?

Taxpayers should not be expected to pay for any NFL stadium. Instead, reduce the pay of the obscenely over-paid football players, many of them felons, and put it into a fund for a stadium.

People spoke loud, long and strongly about their desire to have no taxpayer money funding a Vikings playground.

We have far too many people in our state Legislature, including in the Republican majority, who are not fit to hold their offices.

Wrote this earlier on a related string ... the taxpayers are getting screwed ... they just don't know how badly. Yet.

Lived in the Cincinnati area when Mike Brown, owner of the Bengals, was campaigning for a new stadium. Same BS ... implying that he might move the team to LA. The city fathers of course capitulated and Paul Brown stadium was built ... going over budget by hundreds of thousands of dollars. The tax payers of Hamilton County, many who can’t afford a ticket to a Bengals game, are taking it in the shorts big time. Projected tax revenues that were supposed to increase, in large measure because of the new stadium, never materialized. The half cent increase in the Hamilton County sales tax that was passed by voters at the time of the heist to help fund the stadium (15 years ago) is still in place. What’s even more telling, the Cincinnati Enquirer that heartily endorsed the building of Paul Brown Stadium, within a year were regretting the endorsement ... as reality set in and the inevitable cost over runs began to become apparent.

I wonder if they have decided where in the stadium they will put their Super Bowl Trophy Case?

“One Democrat said he was voting in favor of the proposal because it would help women and ‘people of color.’”

Like whom, Adrian Peterson? He’d be better off if the team moved to LA. Or, according to what the MSM covers, being traded to the Patriots or Jets/Giants.
