President Barack Obama had opposed the amendment.

“While the president does not weigh in on every single ballot measure in every state, the record is clear that the President has long opposed divisive and discriminatory efforts to deny rights and benefits to same sex couples,” Cameron French, Obama’s North Carolina campaign spokesman, said in March.

The results of this is going to be exactly the results of the elections.

I wish you are correct but don’t be so sure. It’s a city versus rural thing.

The amendment was trailing in Charlotte, in the Triangle counties around Raleigh and Chapel Hill, as well as the Winston-Salem-Greensboro area, according to figures from the State Board of Elections.

But it was winning by wide margins in rural counties and in the suburbs of Charlotte - the home of famous evangelist Billy Graham, who endorsed the ballot measure last week.

Wasn’t there some story about gay rights and the community along with soccer moms rose up and were all for helping to ‘get rights for all’.

Can’t remember what or when exactly but do remember someone writing about how afterwards, all the moms with their children celebrating the ‘win’ were horrified when the men all started kissing in front of everyone.
Just remember the Hokey Pokey- that’w what it’s all about, people.

I can remember around 1988 talking with another grad student at the University of Southern Mississippi that the next big push by the left would be homosexuality. Sure enough it was. I also told him I thought they may just finally lose as the vast majority are opposed to it. Still the media acts as if homosexual marriage is completely accepted by everyone
except Christian biggots.

Maybe we will end up winning this one after all. No matter how much those in charge push.

Ummm .... North Carolina is a FAR CRY from Cali ! Don't expect the same here. Strange though that Charlotte was the exact opposite of the State in general vote wise ...... Snoot ;o)

I base that on the fact that NC is a “Moderate State” and the MSM was claiming that gay marriage opinions were split 50-50 but in reality these results are the real picture.

Hilariously, the democrats thought NC was going to put the Won over the top in the coming election.

Good call, Axelrod.

So maybe Obama had a feeling the way the vote was going to go and that is one of the reasons why he would not fully endorses gay marriage so not to alienate democrat voters in NC

Ummmm... don’t confuse the people of Kalifornia who passed the legislation handily with the liberal federal judges who shot it down. Liberal federal judges are liberal federal judges, be they in CA or NC.

He was supposed to come to Asheville today, but cancelled last minute (reading the polls?).
.
Some figures on the election: 958K Dems, 966 Reps. Amendment 1 passed 61-39. Obama garnered ONLY 79% of the vote, “No Preference” got 21% ....Could that be a problem come November??? The Libertarian party was led by “No Preference” at 57% !!! Hahaha.... Bob (Who you?) Etheridge gained only 38% in his run for governor....
.
LOTS of good news tonight....

Thanks for the numbers. I hope people will and are waking up. I saw Charles Krauthamer on Hannity tonight and I was just livid about the fact that Charles was saying how Obama is just skirting the Gay marriage issue until he is reelected. Obama is such a liar why doesn’t he just say he is for it. I despise liars
