The Founders also didn’t forsee a dumbed-down, ‘American Idol elects celebrity politicians’ electorate who can’t think for themselves. Regular elections should be a natural ‘term limit’ process.

“The Founders didn’t foresee the legislative job becoming a career.”

Yes they did. It was certainly considered in the constitutional debates. Soon to be President Jefferson was an advocate of term limits. The founders did not intend for the job to become a career, but they did foresee it and warned against letting it happen. In the end, they left it for voters to decide.

Amending the constitution is certainly withing our perview, just unlikely.
