I may be an old veteran now, but 30 years ago I was a younger veteran. One summer evening, during a time when we were having a lot of local break-ins, I saw a person moving trash cans around outside of the home across the street; so I watched. When the guy broke the window and began to crawl inside, I ran over and put a 12ga. shotgun in his back and asked him if he lived there (I knew he didn’t). I was almost ready to call the cops to pick the guy up when the actual owner of the home (a nice Italian fellow wearing a business suit) showed up with two of his associates. The owner asked me what was going on and I explained that his house was being burglarized. He told me that he would personally deliver the offender to the local police station; then he, the offender and his two associates left in their Lincoln. He came over and thanked me the next day.
The local break-ins stopped.
