Nah. That argument is moot. One is campaigning on opposing it; the other is for it. Obama will be the gay choice.

Where homosexual marriage is the wedge issue, those for will vote for Obama, those opposed will vote for Romney.

This might flip Mitt again. He tried to run to the LEFT of Ted Kennedy in a senate race, especially on gay issues. It will be difficult for Mitt to keep up his act in the face of this.

Obama may be doing this explicitly to force Mitt to shout Me Too!
