Obama Says Same-Sex Marriage Should Be Legal

WASHINGTON — President Obama on Wednesday ended nearly two years of “evolving” on the issue of same-sex marriage by publicly endorsing it in a television interview, taking a definitive stand on one of the most contentious and politically charged social issues of the day.

“At a certain point, I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same-sex couples should be able to get married,” Mr. Obama told ABC News in an interview that came after the president faced mounting pressure to clarify his position.

Mr. Obama said his views had changed over the years, in part because of prodding from friends who are gay and conversations with his wife and daughters.

“I had hesitated on gay marriage in part because I thought that civil unions would be sufficient,” Mr. Obama said. “I was sensitive to the fact that for a lot of people, the word marriage was something that invokes very powerful traditions and religious beliefs.”

But he added that “I’ve always been adamant that gay and lesbian Americans should be treated fairly and equally.”

The president stressed the tension he felt between the desire to treat people equally and respect for those whose religious beliefs lead them to oppose same-sex marriage.

“The thing at root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the golden rule — you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated,” he said. “And I think that’s what we try to impart to our kids and that’s what motivates me as president.”

In an election that is all but certain to turn on the slowly recovering economy and its persistently high jobless rate,

“What’s he going to do with Mooochelle?”

Moochelle is why Obama wants same-sex marriage legalized. I guess he’s tired of keeping it on the down low with the post-op TG who’s been helping him raise his daughters.

As in all things liberal, they present it as a right that changes with opinions, and then make it a mandate, attacking heterosexual marriages as homophobic etc... So, for tax purposes businesses and people cannot make deals, but you have to have sex with another man to have this go through?

As usual, this is the slave mandate of the state. It is completely unconstitutional and discriminatorial behind language of pseudo-choice and pseudo-freedom.

I think Obama’s declaration of support for gay marriage would’ve had a bigger impact if he and Joe Biden started making out right after... just saying!

Of course, he is not going to come out of the closet about his compromised blackmailed status until the law comes in effect. He has full conflict of interest in this and is not saying it.

I remember that woman asking a perfect stranger for help with a lizard on her car door, she was so phobic of it, she would go to a perfect stranger to remove a mere lizard. Gays are exactly the same because they ask for perfect strangers to abuse them sexualy and reproductively for phobias regarding the opposite sex.

This people are “berry pickers”, they are part of a jungle, and not part of society, and, yet, they predate on that industrialized island of society on behalf of the wolves and sick primates of the wild, but with a worse indulgence that would scare those animals still.

Hence next stop is bestiality and treating everyone as an underage retard of the state, making pedophilia legal and state sanctioned mandate “for the morale of the troops and Obambi”.

It is disgusting, laws are shaped against morality and for the pseudo-morale of a people with image problems.

What a surprise - the written report left out his statement (at about 25 seconds) about soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors "fighting on MY behalf". That's a direct quote. WHOSE behalf?? What a self-centered, arrogant POS this guy is.

I never would have believed that I could possibly despise this guy more than I already did.

I have read three articles now about this. None of them printed the words Obama used when he was talking about homosexuals in the military. I saw the interview and he used the phrase, "All those in the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines who are out there FIGHTING FOR ME ..."

This man is more than narcissistic, he is self delusional!

Hey Obama, you gutter snipe, "they" are fighting for "US"!!!!!

My blood pressure is still out the roof!!!!!

I am wondering; Is Obama trying to get the most severe electoral drubbing of all time and lose the election for some other motive? Does he want to take Carters place on the bottom of the totem pole and then draw out years of sympathy (he is rather young) or what?

He has chosen a losing side on the Gay Marriage issues, which will surely drift more Catholics away from him, not to mention the percentage of Hispanics that will follow the Church and not vote for him. He can't think that 100% of the Black vote will offset the loss of independents and Catholic democrats, etc.

Maybe he will start a Habitat for Homomanity that builds houses for 3rd world GLBT or something, but the strategy he is taking is odd and hard to read for any other reason.

What say the FR peeps?

While my level of despising him has been quite high for the entire past three years, this particular statement of his took it to a whole new level.
