I remember as a member of the novice men’s Crew team what an absolute JOY it was to FINALLY be faster than the women’s JV team! We were a lot taller and stronger than they were - but they rowed more efficiently - and thus achieved a higher speed.
They LOVED beating us. It showed them the power of all working together efficiently. We LOVED it when they couldn’t beat us any longer - because our rowing skill finally allowed us to efficiently apply our greater strength.
A real treat was when I got to row with the women. They keep and even keel. Like nothing I had ever experienced in a men’s boat. Lower center of gravity - better control - it was a real treat to row from such a stable ‘platform’.
I couldn’t imagine for a second not competing with those women who I loved adored and respected - out of supposed “respect”. What patronizing garbage.
Sort of like “I respect the role of women in the home too much to ever hire one for a job” - THAT kind of “respect”.
And for the unthinking scoffers: No, girls playing on boys' athletic teams all by itself won't destroy society. The underlying utilitarian, utopian socialist ideology which leads folks to think (among other things) that girls playing on boys' athletic teams is just peachy will destroy American society. That is the purpose of utilitarian, utopian socialist ideology.
Depends on how the game is actually played.
Men and women are not interchangeable cogs, as others have said. They are different. Boys should be taught to treat girls with respect.

That seems a bit harsh to me. The girl on the championship team VOLUNTARILY sat out of the first two games with OLOS out of respect for their beliefs. I don’t think a “feminazi” would do that. It seems like she just wants to play baseball, not force her “radical, feminist agenda” on others.
I don’t think it would be fair to ask her to sit out in the championship game.
I have no problem with the school standing up for its beliefs (though I think when it comes to baseball their beleif is a bit silly), but the girl involved seems to have acted quite honorably.
however, if this girl is good enough to play and be a starter, than she should play...baseball is not a contact sport as much as hockey or football.
...and it sounds like she was very accomodating to the other school during the regular season..

Wasn’t there a story about a player a year or so ago who refused to play in a football game or something where he would have been up against a woman? As far as I recall he just didn’t want to be in the position of causing physical injury to a female. I think that’s admirable.
But it's not honest to conclude that they're "wimps... scared of a girl." They're sacrificing rather than compromise what they think is right. People who mock insead of ague makes me wonder whether whether they could actually frame an effective argument.

Here in NJ our State Police used to make cadets train in a boxing ring (as they often patrol alone); after a woman was killed they did away with that training.
Fast forward a few years and a trucker is hijacked in PA and killed in NJ after he stopped to help out a wrecked police car in PA. Turns out the she-cop driving the car had been (easily) disarmed by some “yutes” when she pulled them over; they had taken her car & gun, hijacked the truck after they wrecked the car, and in the end she’s alive, trucker’s dead.
Afraid of girls? Wait until they are married. The whole sliding with your spikes up is a skill set they will need.

You know, I don’t have a problem with this at all. It’s one kid making a decision for himself. I would not have made that decision. I would have flirted with her so as to distract her, catch the winning pass, and then attempt to make a pass at her :-)
It is funny, Freepers blast gay marriage, lesbian nuns and any other social issue they deem offensive but God forbid a School stands on its charter and principals in keeping male and female activities separate. Nobody is denying girls can play sports and be outstanding athletes, it is a question of co-ed sports and school policy. Somebody stands on their principals and gets blasted. Best goalie I ever had was a female, tough as nails and not bad looking (adult competition) she was rejected by a coach that only wanted men despite the tournament being co-ed. She was named goalie of the tournament. Girls have game, there is no doubt. But, this is matter of principal and policy.
Well, anytime you actually want to make the case that they are related, feel free.
