Like so many of the posters who read through this thread, you have bought into the groundless assertions of the Cruz campaign who allege without evidence that Dewhurst is as you put it “no good like Lugar”.

Every time I ask them for specifics as to exactly what it is that Dewhurst has actually done that makes him not conservative - they have no answers. With Lugar, Mourdock had plenty of reasons he could give as to why Lugar was no conservative. Same with the Specter/Toomey, Rubio/Crist, and even the Castle/O’Donnell primaries. But there is nothing specific that these Cruz people will ever tell you that would back up their claims against Dewhurst.

So, if you want to build a political team and field a slate of “tea-party” office-holders to back you, or a certain candidate in the future, just say so.

And you are not fooling anyone by continuing with the line of Dewhurst as GOP elite. Dewhurst came from very modest means, public schools, state university, and made it in the private sector. Cruz went to private school, then Ivy League, and was appointed to government jobs. Not saying he didn’t merit any of that - just that he might be the elite candidate more than Dewhurst!

Are Dewhurst's "modest means" reflected in the advertising budget of his campaign or is he just another Robamney, carpetbombing the airwaves to whistle past the primary voters?

There is one and only one Texan of my acquaintance who could convince me that Dewhurst is remotely vaguely acceptable and that is the sainted 5th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Jerry Edwin Smith who has recently been setting the pace in Texas for pushing Eric Cantor's minions around and upholding Texas's determination to defund Planned Barrenhood. Jerry Edwin is too busy to take time from bashing Obozo's tools to make statements as to what is obvious to just about every legitimate conservative: Dewhurst is just another GOP-E (which, btw, has nothing necessarily to do with his personal bank account and everything to do with the fact that he is just another dull as dishwater, boring, wannabe placeholder with no particular crusade in mind who just thinks that the title US Senator would look good in front of his name and is willing to "compromise with anyone and anything to get that title. I knew Jerry when he attended Yale and Yale Law and he and I were both Reagan state chairs in 1976 when Ronaldus Maximus in 1976 when he challenged Feckless Ford.

I don't know who you were quoting at #58 but I know this: No compromise with Obamunism or Romneyism is in order. If government comes to a screeching halt as a result, that would be a good thing.

Outside of Texas, convince fieldmarshaldj and you convince me. He and I seldom disagree. Cruz is the political equivalent of most of the fieldmarshal's homepage photo gallery. Dewhurst, Cornyn, Hutchison, and their money-grubbing circle of elitists are the political version of the Helen Thomas photo.

Between Barbara Bush, George Herbert Walker Bush (the elder) formerly known as Congressman "Rubbers", Laura Bush, Kay Bailey Hutchison, and John (loves such "GOP" candidates as Lisa Murkowski and Mike Castle and every other issue whore running for the Senate as a GOP phony and snoozemeister) Cornyn, the Texas GOP-E does not enjoy much of a positive reputation with conservatives nationally.
