Wait ‘till robotics becomes ubiquitous. You think we’re seeing long-term unemployment now? Fugeddaboudit. It’s just around the corner too. Robots everywhere is right now about where the personal computer was in 1977.
It’s really something to think about, I suspect that the call for a world population of no more than half a billion is prompted by the expectation that robots will do almost all the necessary work soon. All those extra “useless eaters” simply get in the way of the elite who want to be able to cruise empty highways, enjoy uncrowded beaches etc. You could own an estate like Biltmore if you have robots to do the work and you kill off the tourists who overrun it now.
What anointed one wants to live in a crowded world if you don’t need those people for labor? Anyone who would prefer life in an apartment building to having a ten thousand acre estate and a mansion is simply nuts.
