That makes sense. I don't have the humidity problem where I am now, and darn sure didn't in the mountains of NM. My problems were more mice and other neighbors getting into my stored stuff.

One thing I found interesting (being a nurse) was that the vet never had to stick a dog more than once to hit a vein. I have seen nurse’s try 4 or 5 times to get a vein. Plus the dog has hair on their legs. Vets should give instructions to nurse’s on how to hit a vein the first time...LOL

- *parboiled* white rice has 80% of the nutrients of brown rice, but a much, much longer shelf life.
- canned tomatoes take up space but are fairly low in calories. Canned spaghetti sauce or chef boy-r-dee pasta is a better choice from a calorie perspective. Canned hearty stews, chili, hash, and chunky soups are also good choices.
- dried split peas & lentils cook with less fuel/power than other types of beans (+ you can sprout lentils). Baked beans are a good calorie source.
- choose rolled oats over quick oats, & add your own honey/molasses or brown sugar
- peroxide doesn't last long. But alcohol can disinfect, & be used as a cooking fuel. We used our camping alcohol stove a lot during a 5 day power outage last year. It's great to boil water quickly for noodles, tea & coffee, plus it's safe in the house, unlike a coleman stove.
- bleach does not last long, either. But pool shock (calcium hypocholrite) does, & can be mixed as needed to make bleach & disinfect water.
- candles, chemical glow sticks & solar lanterns/lights are also very handy. a hand crank/solar emergency radio is handy, too.

Yep.  Have those as well.

The writer is clearly looking forward to SHTF judgment day when the haughty/lazy NPs get their just rewards, either by dying well deserved deaths or by having to beg for scraps from the virtuous preppers' C ration stash.

My friend, who passed away six months ago, recalled the 1918 flu like it was yesterday. She and 7 brothers and sisters lived in the same bedroom for months and could hear near daily the wailing as families lost loved ones.

When we buried her I went around looking at all the headstones from 1918.

Vet giving a horse a neck vein shot is pretty impressive, and don't blink, because you'll miss it.

I can give sub-q and IM ok on smaller critters, but on the big stuff? It's good to have someone with experience around.

Lots of those folks died of dehydration from the screaming sh@ts.

Turns out that the World Health Organization docs maybe think a better way to treat dehydration (especially in babies) than just sugar water is to give them thin cereal gruel that they can drink.
