After I cleaned it a second time I just filled it with water and added a little bleach for long term. I do keep it covered with a tarp to keep light out, but it should be drinkable for a good long time.

For Plan B in case you run out of toilet paper, save your phone books - use that paper if no TP.

Bugging in 250 gallons of water should last us about 50 days as when camping we use about five gallons a day I know because I haul it when the tank is empty. The water in my tote migh at worse go ‘flat’, but that can be fix by just dumping it from container to container.

I know all about Horatio.... latin class... 7th grade... us rowdy 5 guys that got personal attention from the headmaster.

You be safe, too.

Don't cut the red wire. Stand off and have an airman poke it with a stick. From 10,000 ft.

Thanks for all you did.

Get some rain barrels and start filling. Or go with the Lifesaver bottles.

Most americans don't camp. I can live and have on 3 gallons a day, but it takes serious water discipline to do that.

You can do it, and I can do it, and probably neither of us has to. But those that have to, and have never done it? They are going to suffer.

That is my concern. If you don't have local water available, and you aren't familiar with roughing it, and you don't have a way to clean water, you may die.

Water discipline is part of my plan, of course.

If you have to use water discipline, you are on bad ground. That's way past the crap hits the fan, that's WWII drinking urine and lost at sea for 2 months kind of stuff.

If you don't live somewhere where you can get copious amounts of water (you can clean it), you are on bad ground and need to move.

Grateful for that Johnny...... all team work, folks here supported us more than we know. Just when ya have had it, was worn out and pissed off and was ready to give up, the good lord hands ya a pack of letters and crayola drawings from a 3rd grade elementry school back home and makes ya get back up an do it again.....

Folks that support the military bought the determination. We just delivered it with compassion as best we could.

You know that personally....:o)

Stay safe !

Well, of course I mean that literally, not in military terms.

I’ve had a lot of great advice here.

Thanks lots.

Over and out.

I buy a new filter every year and have for the last 6 years.

I once took water from an alligator pond. Poor locals had a fit seeing me fill my Lifesaver.

Cuidado!
Cuidado!
Cuidado!

Agua mas mal.

I laughed and had to explain to them what I was doing and why.

They didn’t get it. So I drank several cups. They ended up just basically shaking their heads.

Went back the next day and explained it to them again. Since I was alive the story made more sense.

But, basically, you can drop these things in Katrina or Haiti type conditions and you will get pure water out of them. Not filtered, which is fine on a hike but, in Katrina conditions the water if full of chemicals, effluent and other nasty stuff.

I love this thing for it’s portability and it will deliver water for four in good time.

So another trick up my sleeve for backup is I have these camp showers by Coleman. They hold 5 gallons of water. Now, the envision their product as something you expose to the sun and have a warm shower at the end of the day.

My vision is they hold 5 gallons and lie flat so they can go into a backpack for hauling back to my home or bugout site.

I can also drive to a water source, pull out 10 of these things, fill em and put them in my trunk with plenty of space left over for anything else. my thought is to place to in on the floor of the passenger seat, two on the floor behind the passenger and driver seat and the other in the trunk to balance out my car.

I mean, we are talking 400 pounds it needs to be distributed to balance out the car for driving.

I think with garlic on top of that you pretty much gave yourself a colostomy.

How many belt sizes did you lose?

Dried beans will last much longer than two years if stored properly. 25 years on the shelf is easily achieved.

” i bought a fire brick maker. you can use wet leaves saw dust or shredded newspaper. burns for about an hour. everyyhing i buy now needs to be renewble from nature. in fact i am making some tomorrow with grandkids “

How long do ya have to dry the grandkids before ya can
use ‘em??

(I guess how ‘renewable’ they are depends on how well the kids and their wives/husbands are getting along..)

;)
