Looks like he didn’t know how to get out of the place, and it looked like he bent down and put something in his sock.

Strange - he did stop to bend down and do something to his sock or shoe or the bottom of his pants, and then he seemed about to go back into the store or to turn around. I notice that the clerk was watching him and was actually following him (gasp!), and also stayed on the phone for the entire time the kid was in the store. So obviously the clerk wasn’t comfortable with his behavior.
