Obama Could Have An In Among White Evangelicals

Obama Could Have An In Among White Evangelicals A recent gathering of religious leaders in Ohio indicates that churches don't necessarily march in lock step with the Republican Party. But certain social issues could still make it a tough sell for the president.

By Mitchell Landsberg May 19, 2012 CINCINNATI — The Rev. Chris Beard is a theological conservative, make no mistake about it. He believes the Bible is the word of God. He believes the Holy Spirit speaks to him directly. He believes, as an article of faith, that abortion and same-sex marriage are wrong.

Still, when a group of religious leaders in Ohio held two days of meetings in Cincinnati recently to talk about economic and racial justice, issues usually associated with the political left, there was Beard, a fourth-generation Pentecostal preacher with a disarming smile, a shaved head and a set of convictions that knock holes in the stereotypes about white evangelical Protestants.

"Conservative biblical interpretation requires embracing the text," Beard said during a break in a daylong symposium on racial equity, a special concern of his. That, he said, "might push us to what society calls progressive engagement."

White evangelical voters are widely presumed to march in lock step with the right wing of the Republican Party. The reality is more nuanced. Some, like Beard, say their faith has led them to question conservative orthodoxy on issues such as immigration, the environment and racial and economic equity.

"Evangelicals," he said, "are quickly discovering the whole Gospel. And that has implications for how we engage the public sphere."

Why in the world would Christians vote for those who promote baby-killing, taxpayer-funded promiscuity, and the theft of private property and income?

Anyone who would vote for Obama does not recognize the authority of God’s Word.

Just another one of the misled. I have spoken to “christians” who claim to be “evangelical” and “believe the Bible is the inerrant word of God” who think queer “marriage” is fine, that abortion is fine, etc, etc etc.

Just lying leftist asshats trying stealing a good name.

There have LONG been leftists in the church trying to subvert it.

I remember the imbecilic love in for Jimmy Carter from evangelicals in 1976. With two culture of death candidates and a lukewarm church this time, who knows? Who cares? Cyanide versus arsenic.

"indicates that churches don't necessarily march in lock step with the Republican Party"

I kinda doubt they're marching in lockstep with Zero's Muslim Faith, either.

These false churches are WHY the left wanted to infiltrate them and subvert them long ago...The REAL reason for their in-roads is with the fraudulent churches who help give the left the appearance they want.

Folks this is simple...You cannot possible be an evangelical christian profession a saving knowledge int he savior and support in any way the man who hates the Christians of this country especially those who founded it. For abortion alone you can't, for his gay supporting ways you can't...its the lie the left uses over and over and over. They will gush on Piers Morgan about the “Hundreds of evangelical leaders who support Obama” and then list off the numerous gay churches that stand with the anointed one. Its their sick way of thinking they break even on the argument. Liars...It doesn't work, I resent the vicious politics and as much the apostate churches posing as christian.

It was only freedom and prosperity that gave our people the time and ability to argue over which end of the boiled egg to break.

We may have to suspend those arguments for awhile until the real issues get resolved.

When the media calls someone an “evangelical”, is that because they so doth dislike to print the name of Christ?

Or is that because the socialist justice kool aid drinkers they support don’t follow the teachings of Jesus Christ?

Technically I suppose you could classify the Holy Rollers as being Evangelical, but who would want to do that ~ besides, there are 5 different classifications (or movements) within Pentacostalism ~ and each is significant ~ so that'd just really really confuse everybody.

So, being the confused soul that I am ~ I stopped reading pret' near at the point where the dude is telling me a Holy Roller is no different than a Lutheran or Dutch Reformed or any other sort of Evangelical.

Barack Obama is a red diaper doper mulsim baby who has said that Jesus Christ is a historical figure and not the only way to salvation.

He "got religion" for political support in the black community. He has boasted he holds a "healthy skepticism of organized religion" that he got from his agnostic mother.

He is no Christian, he scorns those who "cling to God", and he mocks their beliefs. He is an anti-Christ figure who leads the flock astray.

If Romney and other GOP candidates are going to be asked religious questions in the debates it is DAMN time to ask Barack if he believes that Jesus Christ returned to walk among men after He was crucified.

None of this limp wristed "Christ was a historical figure" Bullstalin that even muslims spout.

REPROBATE...... Plain and simple. Rev. (?) Chris Beard is a reprobate. I travel in “white, Evangelical” circles and I tell you now, Obama does NOT have an in with them. Chris Beard has gone rogue.
