I dunno. I grew up in the suburbs of Denver and there were a fair amount of Mormons in the area, maybe 5-10%, maybe more. I had Mormon neighbors, schoolmates and coworkers growing up. As far as I could tell, they're really just like about every other religion. Some were devout. Some, less so. And then there was the Mormon girl I went to prom with and the Mormon girl I dated in college who (along with their brothers) were sewing some pretty wild oats at the time (just like the rest of us were). I could say the same about the Baptists I grew up with. Some devout, others partied hard.
Yeah, there are some strange aspects of the Mormon religion but they seem to be decent people, good neighbors who are politically conservative, productive, generally successful tax-payers and who just want to raise their kids right.
I really don't get all the Mormon hate present on this forum. When it comes to religions/ideologies I feel threatened by, Mormonism is pretty far down on the list.
I don’t know if you’re speaking to me directly, or just chose to click on my name, but I do not feel threatened by Mormons and I certainly don’t hate them!
Not agreeing with a religion, finding the beliefs and practices odd, does not equal hate. That’s quite a leap.
And I don’t know how long you’ve been here, but over the years there have been some pretty radical and shall we say over zealous postings by Mormons et al that turned off a lot of FReepers.
Let’s just say there’s a “history”....
Point out one "hateful" post on this thread...
Elsewise, please reconsider your generic accusations @ all kinds of people.
Shotgun generic accusations is itself a form of slander.
Quit focusing on the people that are deceived by MORMONism and look at MORMONism itself.
THAT is what is receiving any HATE in these threads.
We got OBAMA because he was NICE, and KIND, apparently productive and wanted to raise his kids right.
Now look what we have voted for!
