You're probably right. But if I'm attacked by a mob and have a wife and/or children with me I'm going to use deadly force. I'll just have to take my chances with the jury.

If my wife and kid are with me, all bets are off and I too will go cyclic. I thought the question stipulated only one person as victim. I'll take a few more chances with my life in order to avoid an unpleasant outcome for myself (Zimmerman). But I take no chances with family. That scenario will also probably tilt the legal odds in my favor as well.
