Law of the Sea would usurp U.S. Navy’s authority

The U.S. Navy has been the master of the seven seas since World War II, the pre-eminent maritime force.

It seems odd, then, that Navy leadership has long pressed for what amounts to a redundant international hall pass.

A steady stream of admirals and service chiefs over many years have advocated for the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea, or the Law of the Sea Treaty — an accord rejected by President Ronald Reagan in 1982.

Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for example, said this treaty “codifies navigational rights and freedoms essential for our global mobility.”

It is true that the treaty’s navigational articles codify noncontroversial traditional maritime rules of the road. But the Navy has successfully preserved and protected its navigational rights and freedoms for 200 years without it.

For the treaty to be “essential for our global mobility,” the Navy would have to suffer a devastating decline — either from drastic budget cuts or a major reduction in its mission and capabilities. Ceding any authority to an international body is not only a threat to our sovereignty, it also creates another avenue for other nations to stop U.S. unilateral activity.

If you think this hoop shooting, golfing, vacationing, telepromptering idiot is in charge of ANY of these things, you're drinking something in your kool-aid.

He's a front man. And he's proud of being a front man. He's the tailored suit for the specified audience, and no one thinks he's anything but that. That's why when he's on vacation, he really IS on vacation. What do actors do between roles? Do you think they worry about the plot of the movie? Hell no! They're out by the pool with the babes. Then they get called in to do another scene. Obama thinks only of standing in the right place, and reading his lines properly. He gives not a single damn what those lines are.

Now, Hillary is a different story. She's not nearly as smart as she thinks she is, but she's ruthless and obsessed, and cares deeply about those lines, that plot and the agenda. She takes no vacations and does nothing else.

She screws it all up on a regular basis, of course, and with a horrific toll trailing her around in her scorched earth life, surrounded by drooling idiots who grade themselves by the proximit of their lips to her ass. Nevertheless, she plows on, year after year, decade after decade, pulling with all her strength and will and muttered curses to drag humanity over the cliff into hell.

The only time she laughs is when she sees how many useful idiots are helping her.
