As long as the republican party thinks their tent is big enough for republicans like this they will remain a minority party.

He's trying to run to the left because it's a liberal Jewish district, used to be Mark Kirk's. He's a supporter of Israel, but so is his Democratic opponent, Schneider—who is not as far left as the guy he beat in the primary, Schnayerson, who was a Stalinist from Moveon.org.

So I guess Dold is trying to get a big contribution from the baby-killers. Reminds me of the punchline of that lawyer joke—the one that explains why lawyers, rather than rats, are increasingly being used in scientific experiments: "And the main reason is, there are some things rats just won't do."

They hold the House.

They are in reach of the Senate.

They have held the WH more than the Dems have held it, ever since Eisenhower.

They aren’t a minority party.

This statement is a reflexion of living in the past. The long ago past.

It’s also a statement of your frustration at the Republican party, which I do understand.

There’s a lot to be frustrated about.

For those who think simply voting R is good policy.

There are two punchlines to that joke.

2) And we kept having problems with the technicians getting emotionally attached to the rats.

As several comments point out, this unique gerrymandered district, in Illinois (think Mark Kirk), has NO relevance on the national Republican Party, even if you want to pretend so.

Dold is going to learn the hard way that you can’t out liberal a liberal at the next election.

Every Republican in the House should be placed on notice by the Tea Party that if they support this effort, they will be turned out in the next primary.

I hope Dold loses the General. I thought he campaigned as a pro-lifer in 2010. What a joke. His ACU rating is under 50% too.

Why didn’t Kinzinger move into THIS guy’s district instead of Manzullo’s?

The GOPe is a partner of the Democrats.

Why do so many conservatives still think the GOP is on our side?

“The GOPe is a partner of the Democrats.

I prefer someone on my side instead the side of politicians whose only goal is to get reelected and reward their special interests and then find a new job as a million dollar lobbyist. I will vote for honest pols. Someone that will support policy that will reduce the head count of those who want to have more kids who are to be paid for on my dole. My philosophy is if you can’t support a kid then don’t have one. The answer is not clear cut.

Tea Party needs to get busy and field an opponent for this RINO. Illinois had better come to its senses.

There’s already enough trojan horses in Washington to fill a Texas ranch.

Thanks for bringing that up. I just didn't want to overload people. And since jokes always go in threes, there's one more—I think it's first in the order of delivery:

There are so many lawyers, we'll never run out of them.
