I live not too far from Ft. Rucker just across the Florida line. I often see the helicopters flying around.
I can remember when the really old people around here called it “Camp Rooker”. I haven’t heard that in a long time.

Rooker? That’s the southern twang. It’s like we would say “Staunton” (Staun-ton) and locals in Virginia pronounce it “Stanton”
