Distraught over dog's shooting by Fort Worth police officers

Twenty-four hours after a police officer shot Lily, a 5-year-old Border Collie-English Setter mix, its owners still don't understand why the police officer was on their property and why he used lethal force.

... had just returned from a shopping trip and their two dogs had slipped into their truck, then into the garage, before re-emerging when an officer walked up the driveway...

Asked by the officer to control his two dogs, Mark Boling urged him not to advance, but he did. "My dogs don't bite, They're not going to hurt you," Boling, 52, an electronics technician with a defense contractor, recalled saying. "They're just going to run up to you."

A statement issued by police spokesman Sgt. Pedro Criado said the officer waited by the driveway when two barking dogs charged him in an aggressive manner while he repeatedly asked a male at the house to call the animals back. Then the unnamed officer jumped onto the porch pillar.

"As the dogs were getting closer to attack/bite the officer, the officer fired his service weapon, striking the dog closest to him," the spokesman said.

Boling said he had gained control of one of the dogs by the time the officer raised his gun, "Then I hear my wife yelling, 'Don't shoot my baby, please don't hurt my baby!"

From above the dog, the officer fired once, striking the 5-year-old mixed breed on the back. It dashed to the back yard where it bled to death within three minutes.

"You'd better check on your dog," she quoted the officer as responding.

But the policeman still had the gun raised and pointed toward her husband and surviving dog, she asserted.

"Why are you on my property — I didn't call you," Boling recalls asking.

After a policeman on my property, who was told to leave, pulled out his service revolver and fired it killing my dog, I felt so threatened, that I went in my house, got my gun, and shot the officer dead, before he could kill me and or my family.

Actually if this happened to me, I would immediately kill him with my bare hands. (if I were a violent person, that is).

That is absolutely going to happen one of these days. And many potential jurors would be pretty lenient under the circumstances. Depending on the timing I might vote for manslaughter. maybe.

“You should keep in mind that illegal alien human traffickers are training attack dogs and keeping them ready to attack cops.”

Nonsense! He was investigating a “copper” robbery, not illegals with attack dogs. Just shoot every dog you see since it MIGHT be a trafficers attack dog. None of these recent dog killings by coward cops have been traffickers attack dogs.

It is my belief the property owner would have been within his rights if he had shot the cop. The cop showed up unannounced and his presence was not requested. He could have been a home invader impersonating a cop. He sure as hell didn’t act like a cop.

FLAME AWAY!

““I started hanging up on cop charities long ago.”

Yes, but from now on I’m going to tell them when they stop shooting peoples pets and actual people with legal gun permits, I might reconsider.

Now, I want to see a picture of the cop that did the shooting who is an example of our school system in that he can’t even read a damn address.

Pretty well what I expected.

Can you imagine the sheer horror of a Pit/Chihuahua cross?

{{{{shudder}}}}

The blood runs cold at the very thought of such a beast.

One would think that with all the training police and first responders are required to take and pass, they’d have a rudimentary understanding of the clear signs a dog will display-aggression, fear, apprehension, playfulness, contentment, etc.

Not only that, some very basic training on handling/psychology. I think back 6 months or so ago to the cop that reached for a dog's throat to check it's tag. You can guess the outcome. I't like to ask that cop how she would react if a stranger grabbed for her throat.

“Some cops are just plain dumb.”

A LOT of cops are just plain dumb and brutal and thuggish. Thank affirmative action for easing the requirements to be a cop in the 1980s so more of Barry’s ‘peeps could be hired. As a kid I was taught to admire and respect cops. My reaction today when a cop gets shot is, “I wonder what I want for dinner?”

Some cops are just plain dumb.

So you think the reason he killed someone's pet was due to being dumb? No one here is buying that one.

NWA had it right back in 88, Fu— The Police! And proudly I say to this day I prescribe to that sentiment. From Ruby Ridge to Waco to all the dog shootings. I have no respect for the Pigs any more.

I doubt he really thought the dog was any of the bully breeds.

More likely, he used that as an excuse to cover for the enjoyment he gets from shooting dogs.

He should be removed from the force, jailed, and whatever his yearly salary is, it should be given to the dog’s owners.

Do THAT every time a dog is shot, and the “procedure” will stop faster than you can say “molasses”.

Cops shooting housedogs is occurring nationally, not locally.

Stop defending bad cops.
