CNN discussed the transcript question today in the three minutes I was in a room with a TV tuned to their channel. Their talking head’s comment was that asking to see Obama’s transcript is proof of racism, code language for “a black man couldn’t have these amazing credentials”. Was it sexist when they talked about Sarah Palin’s grades? What was it when they reported George W. Bush’s lackluster grades? But as with everything in the composite candidate’s record, the academic transcripts are off limits.
I also read that Obama has bragged about having a high GPA (3.7 or something like that) and graduating from Harvard Law magna cum laude. Of course if the transcripts are never released no one can verify his claims--and no one but his professors will know if the grades he got were the same a white or Asian student would have received for the same quality of work.
