Thanks for the links. I’ve seen the old photographs, and knew from friends that it was centered in Jalisco but didn’t know much more.

I also knew from reading history that the Mexican Revolutionary leaders that eventually assumed power were probably worse than the government they overthrew. Calles being one example out of several. I read Greene’s book, too, and read the history of the birth of PAN party, which was also a reaction to the anti-church prejudice of the ruling party.

Mexico has always fascinated me.

The author is talking about Eduardo Verástegui, not Andy Garcia who was born and raised in Cuba.

Eduardo Verástegui is the one who was born and raised in Mexico

Quite alright. I liked being thought of as a “provocateur seeking relevance”.

Absolutely all of the quotes are Verástegui’s. Absolutely none of the quotes are Garcia's.

this movie was released in Mexico a month ago. I saw it. It is well made. Lots of characters and well made. Of corse, some of the Americans are seen as after the Mexican oil, but others are seen as supporters of the cause...The actor Edwardo has been making family friendly movies since converting to prolife. He made an anti abortion moviea called Bella. He recently made family movie called Little Boy here in Baja. A WW2 movie about a kid looking for his father after the war in Japan. Edwardo is not without controversy because of his connection with Ricky Martin when he was younger. There were rumors here in Mexico about a gay connection. Go see the movie, not too many movies that declares “Christo vive”, Christ lives. It is a battle cry in the movie.

It’s refreshing on FR to see someone good-naturedly admit their error and accept punishment. ; )
