Reid Statement On May Jobs Report
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ^ | June 1, 2012 | Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

Posted on 06/01/2012 3:25:44 PM PDT by mdittmar

Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid issued the following statement after the Labor Department announced that the U.S. economy added 69,000 jobs in May.

"This report is a sharp reminder that Democrats and Republicans should be working together to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and put the middle class ahead of partisan politics.

"If Republicans worked with us, we could pass legislation immediately to cut taxes for small businesses, prevent student loan rates from doubling and ensure women get paid the same amount as men for performing the same work. We could provide incentives to companies to create manufacturing jobs here at home, instead of overseas. And we could take steps to spur further growth in the housing market.

“But all of these policies require bipartisan cooperation, something that, sadly, has been in short supply. I hope my Republican colleagues will take this as an opportunity to work with Democrats for the good of the middle class.”

This has been a law for about 40 years if I remember correctly. As for the rest of this "republicans are the party of no" BS, they had complete control of congress until 2011, why didn't they do all of that crap then? I hope the Republicans call them on these blatant lies.

Gee Harry, it seems as if every Republican proposal is dead on arrival in the Senate. That does not sound very bipartisan to me.

Reid, “This report is a sharp reminder that Democrats and Republicans should be working together to strengthen our economy, create jobs, and put the middle class ahead of partisan politics.”

This from a clown that hasn’t passed a budget in over 3 years.

This number of jobs “created” that is being bandied about, is that NET jobs created, or is it jobs that already existed, but one person was shuffled into a job while another took retirement or simply quit work (or was fired)?

The actual pool of paid employment positions is actually DECREASING from week to week, and a greater percentage of US citizens are among the “not gainfully employed” category all the time.

This is not growth. This is turning and eating your own. Eventually, the whole facade collapses and fails.

The marxists fought tooth and nail to defeat every initiative by Bush regardless if it was good for the country or not.

There was a moment during 911 when they got caught up in the patriotism but it did not last very long.

He and the Dems are going to do that during the election Nov 6. Didn't you see the thread about the DOJ telling FL to stop purging the voter rolls of the dead and the illegals?

In the words of his master, The One,”Republicans can come along for the ride, but their going to have to sit in the back of the bus.” What Harry is really saying: “America hates our policies. Thanks to Obama we’re going down in flames this November. If we can dupe some RINOs into voting yes on our bills, we can say that the GOP backed it too, and our handmaidens in the media will do our hatchet work.”

According to Reid everything is the Republicans fault, but he won’t bring up any bill that they send to the Senate to be voted on. It is the Democrats that are holding up any progress, they act like a bunch of spoiled brats. WAKE UP AMERICA, vote them all out of office, we need new blood in there. This is not what our Founding Fathers had in mind, they wanted the average man to serve in Congress and then go home, the Senate was to be the more professional men that would give 6 years of their life and then go home. It was never ment to be a lifelong job.
