“The rats were as big as cats”
//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
What kind of cats? We have a Calico Shorthair that weighs 13 pounds, if I ever see a rat that big I am reaching for the .270 and there are Maine coon cats that could eat our Shorthair.

My brother has a gi-normous Maine coon. Biggest house cat I have ever seen. He’s as sweet as can be, but the canine population flees in fear when he strolls thru. He was there first and has evidently established that he is Kitty King. :)
We have a couple of TN cats that are 13+ lbs each, but our desert ferals are circa 10 lbs. each. I have a friend who owns two Maine Coons. One of them is 18 lbs. Not certain about the other. I referred to the standard inner-urban 8 lb. kitties. Those were very large Norwegian-type rats with really ugly fur colors (brown and gray—yuck.)
