On Thursday, Bill Clinton once more telegraphed that he considers Obama a lightweight who should not have bested his wife. Bluntly contradicting the Obama campaign theme that Romney is a heartless corporate raider, Clinton told CNN that the Republican’s record at Bain was “sterling.”
Covering a humorous W. at the unveiling of his portrait, the White House press actually seemed nostalgic for the president who bollixed up Afghanistan, Iraq, Katrina and the economy — a sure sign that the Obama magic is flagging.
On Friday, an ugly job market report led to the stock market’s worst day of the year. As the recovery flat-lined, the president conceded to a crowd at a Honeywell factory in Golden Valley, Minn., that “our economy is still facing some serious headwinds” and getting sucked further into Europe’s sinkhole. In depressing imagery for the start of the summer campaign, cable channels carried the red Dow arrow pointing down while Obama spoke; the Dow wiped out all of its 2012 gains.
But superheroes and mythic figures must boldly lead. Obama’s caution — ingrained from a life of being deserted by his father and sometimes his mother, and of being, as he wrote to another girlfriend, “caught without a class, a structure, or tradition to support me” — has restrained him at times.
In some ways, he’s still finding himself, too absorbed to see what’s not working. But the White House is a very hard place to go on a vision quest, especially with a storm brewing.

I find it humorous that Obama’s new slogan is “Forward”. Makes sense if you don’t want any focus on your performance. However, they have no problem dwelling on the Bush years.......

Name a project or job where Obama was the leader.
Name a piece of legislation where Obama led his party...even when they had a fillibuster-proof majority.
Look at his marriage -— a strong wife who runs the family.
This is a man that was doomed to failure from the beginning.
We all saw this in 2008. Liberals are only now starting to understand.

They might just as well use "Fill in the Blank" as a slogan.

Because they placed their bets and the horse is a loser and as it goes to the gate they know they can't change their bet i.e. pull a Lautenberg. Why it would be deemed racist if they did. They are hoisted by their own petard, and they know it. I have been saying it for a while, 60 in the Senate and I smell a blowout that will take them 20 years to recover. Some of them must have that gut feel too. They went all in on this political Messiah and only now do they realize their is no such thing on earth, and they can't admit that either, you know the whole faith religion thing. The morning of 11/7 will be a shocker for them, shrinks will be busy and the meds will be perscribed even more so than that trend post Pres. Bush's 2004 victory.
One of the problems is that liberals (the leftists, in other words) are always looking for the Great Leader, which is why they flocked to people like Mao and Stalin and still defend them, even though their policies were disastrous from an economic point of view and crimes against humanity from a moral and civic point of view.
They’re not disappointed that his policies don’t work; they’re disappointed that he hasn’t succeeded in imposing them with the harshness that he initially threatened. There has been enough resistance so that, while he can talk about ignoring the Supreme Court, proceeding without Congress, etc., he probably couldn’t get away with it.
Obama is very ambitious and very ideological, but fortunately not very bright, and the people for whom he was the figurehead (the radical left and the America-haters) really can’t make much more headway with him.
Besides, the fun is over and he doesn’t think this gig is good enough for him anymore. I bet he’s going to announce that he’s going on to some international position that he feels is more suited to his messianic powers. I’d say Secretary General of the UN, but this person can’t come from a country that is a member of the Security Council, so unless he comes clean and announces that he really is a Kenyan or an Indonesian after all, he wouldn’t have a chance. Maybe he’ll become head of the Ford Foundation or some other big NGO that controls international policy.
