On Thursday, Bill Clinton once more telegraphed that he considers Obama a lightweight who should not have bested his wife. Bluntly contradicting the Obama campaign theme that Romney is a heartless corporate raider, Clinton told CNN that the Republicans record at Bain was sterling.
Covering a humorous W. at the unveiling of his portrait, the White House press actually seemed nostalgic for the president who bollixed up Afghanistan, Iraq, Katrina and the economy a sure sign that the Obama magic is flagging.
On Friday, an ugly job market report led to the stock markets worst day of the year. As the recovery flat-lined, the president conceded to a crowd at a Honeywell factory in Golden Valley, Minn., that our economy is still facing some serious headwinds and getting sucked further into Europes sinkhole. In depressing imagery for the start of the summer campaign, cable channels carried the red Dow arrow pointing down while Obama spoke; the Dow wiped out all of its 2012 gains.
But superheroes and mythic figures must boldly lead. Obamas caution ingrained from a life of being deserted by his father and sometimes his mother, and of being, as he wrote to another girlfriend, caught without a class, a structure, or tradition to support me has restrained him at times.
In some ways, hes still finding himself, too absorbed to see whats not working. But the White House is a very hard place to go on a vision quest, especially with a storm brewing.

Maureen Dowd = tuned out
Horse hockey. He's been a Marxist since his college days. If properly vetted in 2008 the Kenyan would be an ex-Senator by now.
Zippo is a creation of the lefts imagination and they can't understand why what they created out of their imagination isn't real.
One of the worst tings about Affirmative Action is trying to get rid of an AA baby that failed. The experience is much like pulling out a fish hook against the barb instead of pushing it through. The Illegal's relationship to the DemonRat party is the greatest example of all. If they don't flush (flush as in turd and toilet, insult fully intended) him, they're likely to get creamed. If they do flush him, the blacks will desert them and they will get creamed.
From the reader comments on Dowd’s piece, I liked this one from Rosario:
“Did he ever have a lemonade stand? Did he ever have a paper route? Did he play an organized sport in high school or college to learn about teamwork, winning and losing? Did he ever servie in the military not to learn grand strategy but its nature or have the resposibility of commanding troops? Did ever run a law practice where he was responsible for expenses, the salaries of those who worked for him and have to follow government regulations? Did he have a senior legislative position? I voted for the other guy whoever he was.”
And this from another reader:
“It’s become clear that the promise of 2008 to join ‘blue and red’ America ended by announcing, “We won; get over it!”,
History may be kind by merely referring to Obama as an amateur!”
And this from someone in Switzerland who sees right through Obama but will still vote for him again in hopes he will find some strong Svengali to give Obama the spine he needs:
“Like JFK, Obama fiddles, postpones, is too far above the fray to get any legislation through Congress, great speechmaking but no action. Style galore and no real substance: elegant men, beautiful wives, adorable children and - apparently - both are/were incapable of getting down-and-dirty to get anything done.
I voted for Obama and I will again, but my heart won’t be in it. I hope there’s an LBJ out there somewhere who can translate a liberal agenda into legislation.”
Twas much fun to read the scales slightly peeling away. Their Prometheus is what he has always been - a myth.
Maureen is a good writer and I'm shocked that I agree with her article.
She is just wishing for the Clintons to be back in.
Undoubtably, as are all but the most racist of the Obama voters
I'm sure he would love that. He had exposure to the Ford Foundation in his early years.
Problem is...Obama's thing is public talk, talk, talk. He is lousy at buckling down, strategizing and managing people. The Ford Foundation head has to have deeper roots than Obama is capable of.
Not sure where he'll end up. He can't really do anything other than talk and people are sick of his talk now. Maybe he and Ayers will start a publishing business.
Obama is not very bright, but the liberals love him and I think what Ford (or any other foundation) would do is hire somebody else who did the actual work and then let Bambi cruise around and emote about his Third World “roots” and the evils of the US.
Whatever, I definitely feel that he’s tired of this President stuff because it’s not as much fun as he thought it would be. Plus Moochelle is obviously annoyed that we don’t want her cruising around the world like glitterati, and she probably believes she is throwing her (rather large) pearls before swine and it’s now time to move on up.
