Mel Gibson's father, John Hutton Gibson, has filed for divorce from his second wife, Teddy Joye Hicks Gibson after ten years of marriage, RadarOnline.com is reporting.
The 93-year-old devout Catholic's first wife, and Mel's mother, Anne Reilly died in 1990 and they had eleven children together. According to court docs obtained by RadarOnline.com, Hutton states the date of separation of May 28, 2012 and cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. The former couple didn't have any children together.
Hutton is asking that his estranged wife pay his legal fees and is seeking spousal support from Teddy. Mel's dad also requests that he not be ordered to pay any spousal suppport to his soon-to-be-ex-wife.

Nope, nowhere in my book does that spell “devout Catholic”. But it does serve to attack the Catholic church so it's put in the story. Also, how many devout Catholics divorce at 93?

He believes in the Pre-Vatican II Catholic Church, as does Mel. They didn’t like the changes to the English version of the Church and all the other changes that went with it, so they have ignored the “new” Church and have continued to observe the traditional Latin Mass and anything that is pre-Vatican II. BTW, how old is his wife?

probably had to do with money....probably the man was persuaded to divorce to protect whatever assets he had to bequeth to the family....but who really knows...
