Who Survives? (Final Poll, 1570 LV, Walker +12)
We Ask America ^ | 5/4/12 | Editors

Our final poll in the Wisconsin gubernatorial recall election comes after an impressive debate performance by Democrat Tom Barrett — who may have saved his best for last. The highlight for many viewers was when Barrett took beleaguered Republican Gov. Scott Walker to the woodshed for airing a very tough ad that displays an image of a severely beaten child who later died of his injuries, suggesting that as Milwaukee mayor, Barrett’s police department “didn’t consider it a crime.” In reality, the person who beat the child was arrested but escaped prosecution through a bureaucratic blunder not of Barrett’s doing. Barrett’s outrage was punctuated with this zinger: “I have a police department that arrests felons. He [Walker] has a practice of hiring them.”  That line, of course, refers to the ongoing “John Doe” investigation that has resulted in the arrest of a number of Walker’s former aides for their alleged role in embezzling funds raised to help veterans and their families. (You can read the details of that investigation here.)

So, as fireworks continue to explode over the political horizon in the Dairy State, we asked 1,570 likely voters who they support in the June 5 election. Here are the results.Poll type:: Automated Date: 6/3/2012 - Participants: 1,570 Likely Voters - Margin of Error: ± 2.5%

Walker Barrett Undecided
ALL VOTERS* 54.10% 41.56% 4.34%

Those surprising results would project at a 56-44 final win for Walker. HOWEVER, while Walker continues to lead Barrett, we once again caution readers that this is an extremely difficult election to predict. Turnout is king in all elections, and it may be even more important in this one. Wisconsin’s labor movement is keen to get as many of the anti-Walker voters to the polls as possible and have displayed the ability to rally their troops effectively. And Wisconsin regulations allow Election Day voter registration with a minimum of residency documentation–something that has both sides whispering of potential abuse from their opponents.

Too many polls have been conducted showing Walker in the lead (even Barrett’s own poll shows him trailing) to disbelieve the sentiments displayed in the results. But Walker’s continuing problem with the John Doe investigation and a bit of swagger among his supporters could–possibly–keep some of them home. Then again, Barrett’s aggression that he displayed in the final debate may have come too late.

At any rate, it may be appropriate to say that there could be no winner in this election–only a survivor.

They obviously expected a Pro-Barrett result.

Wow...I didn’t realize We Ask was this biased. You can almost hear the wails.

I would love it if Walker could win by double digits.

12% would be a freakin landslide.

No wonder Obama stayed away from Wisconsin!

Watch and learn.

All of the liberal lying, whining, and cheating used in this WI Recall will be an order of magnitude worse in November.

Conservatives must be trained to be poll watchers in liberal districts around the country.

If a double digit loss for Barrett is what the Dims private polls have been showing for a while now, no wonder Obomo stayed away and the national Dim financial support was pulled a month ago.

I’ll repeat what I said yesterday... it will be an epic blowout. I know because NPR had a segment claiming it would be close.

Even after all the dead people in southeast Wisconsin vote for Barrett ... Walker will still win by double digits. We Wisconsinites, across the political spectrum, are all pretty disgusted with this incredible waste of time and money. This disgust will be fully on display as the votes are counted.

Not close enough to win through vote fraud.
Not even close enough to win through the recount.

Dems don’t lose close elections.

If Walker wins by 12 points you can be sure he actually won by more like 16 or 17. Union thugs are at work right now trying to steal this election.

It’s hard to predict because nobody knows how much vote fraud the democrats will actually get away with.

Generally it’s estimated they add 1-2% to their totals via vote fraud. Given they always oversample democrates and undersample republicans in WI polls, which are still leaning to Walker by 5-7 points on average, pretty much tells me Walker ought to win by 5-7 points.

Now everyone has to be prepared that this will notbe over.

1. Dems will call for recounts, either in certain places or state wide.

2. Democrats will go to the courts to delay or protest.

3. Democrats will object because GAB used the old districts not the new districts (even though the dems wnated the old districts used).

4. Dems will try to hang the costs for all this on republicans. Even though it’s their fault the recall elections occurred.

5. Dems if they also do not get the senate, senate democrats will continue to run out of the state so as not to have a senate quorum.

I honestly don’t think they will accept it if Walker wins. The next step may be a trumped up, politically motivated criminal prosecution if they fail to remove him tonight. We’ve already heard the whispers of this being a possibility.
