Despite Scott Walker’s Win, Obama Outpolls Romney In Wisconsin Aaron Blake 06/05/2012
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is on his way to victory in the state’s recall election tonight, but looking forward to the fall, the Obama campaign may have something positive to glean from the results. While the totals have Walker ahead significantly, exit polls suggest he did it with a healthy dose of support from voters who are leaning toward President Obama in the fall.
In fact, exit polls show Walker winning 17 percent of Obama supporters — much higher than Democrat Tom Barrett’s 6 percent of Mitt Romney supporters. Overall, the electorate that turned out today is backing Obama by a significant margin: 52 percent to 43 percent.
Now, all of this comes with a giant caveat; the exit polls initially were pretty far off, showing a close race between Walker and Barrett. Thus, Republicans are casting doubt that they mean much of anything at all. “Everyone should think twice about using tonight’s Wisconsin exit polling in any fashion,” tweeted Kirsten Kukowski, a spokeswoman for the Republican National Committee.
The numbers could indeed change further, but even as the exit polls have adjusted to reflect Walker’s win, Obama’s lead has stayed largely the same.
And if they are even close to accurate, Obama would have won the race with the electorate that turned out today.
Republicans have argued that Wisconsin will be a toss-up in the fall — and the Obama campaign notably agreed with them this week, putting the race on its list of toss-ups. For now, though, it might be hard to cast Walker’s win as a big sign of GOP momentum in the presidential election.

I’d like to think voters are that principled; being from NJ I find that hard to believe. Since they voted for Obama in 2008, I’d imagine WI voters have the same “gimme gimme gimme” habit of voting with their wallets (which is fine by me; at least they understand “freebies” have a real cost to them).

We are told "all the time" NOT to vote for third-party candidates 'cause they "will lose, anyway."
This pragmatic utilitarianism cuts BOTH ways.
Those who don this pragmatic utilitarian lecturn need to apply it to Romney in Obama states:
* Romney will lose Wisconsin, the Left Coast (WA, OR, CA), NY, NJ, Maryland, CT, and is even behind in MA. [This is NOT a complete list of Obama states]
Therefore, there is NO good practical reason to vote for a pro-abort, big-govt socialist healthcare pioneer like Romney. The "anti-Obama" vote as a reason just doesn't work in states where Obama will win, anyway.

It will also be interesting to see the college age vote analysis for the recall election. Graduation was over so the college kids were home and difficult to organize. The youth vote may not have turned out in this recall election. In November, school will be in session and the organizers will be out in force driving them to the polls. The question is will they vote for the ideology of their professors again or will they look at their future prospects and vote against the incumbent?

A simple ‘confidential’ will likely be what I would say - if I get “exit-polled”.
Then I would look over my sunglasses (to be worn ESPECIALLY if it is already dark) and ask the pollster if they had seen my driver.
I'm not really fond of exit polling.

I don’t get it. There was record turnout and Walker won by a large margin. Why would these same people who turned out in record numbers to vote for Walker and decide to keep the recalled senators vote for Obama. It just doesn’t jive. Unless those same exit polls that had the race at 50-50 are wrong again.
I really don't know much about unions - what does it mean that Walker was “local”.
Any conservative COULD win -- but not Romney.

Sorry dude. I know living in this dream world is tough. Mitt will likely win by a significant margin. 20-30 EVs over the 281. Probably WI, certainly NC, NV, OH, VA, FL, MO, IA, probably NH and perhaps NM.
It is statistically impossible-—unless your a Romney hater or the drive-by media-—to reconcile such a massive R win and still somehow think that this won’t happen to Obama. The RCP average-—not exit polls-—were pretty close, and PPP, a Dem pollster, understated Walker’s victory by 3-4 points. So this state is not only in play, I’m betting it’s already a dead heat.
Time now to “edumacate” the college vote.
Now - so political education has time to sink in before their professors get to them with their crap.
