In a previous life I had the flag up and somehow it got me on a gigantic and prolific ping list which proved enduring despite attempts to curtail.
Go to your profile page where you select the flag. It gives you the option to be notified when new messages are posted on the Texas page. Turn that off and it should eliminate that type ping. If all else fails just post a Texas flag in the comment section of your home page.

Selected the State and flag is posted, but there was no option (in or out) shown for Texas pings. If the pings begin, I’ll cut the State and post a neat old flag in comments.
