No.
Ordinary Americans versus the union leftists.
Even reliable lefties like Page are coming to grips with reality.
“fortified famously by the billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch”
The author started out so well with his explanations of Wisconsin’s economy and Walker’s win.. until he made this statement..
“fortified famously by the billionaire industrialist brothers David and Charles Koch”
After that, I didn’t bother reading the rest.

During the 1990s economic boom, state and local governments awarded generous health and pension benefits to union workers. Now the pensions and benefits are being paid from shrinking revenues in a sluggish economy. The result is a fiscal crisis in cities and states with deepening deficits and threats to public services, ranging from police and firefighters to parks and libraries.
Sorry Clarence. Those pensions were unstainable in any kind of economy. This day was going to come eventually; the recession just hastened its’ arrival.
He's right. (Oh, look! My clock is stopped too!)
America is worried about medium to long term solvency.
The GOP is leading on this issue and the 'Rats are in denial.
This is why the 'Rats will be swept out in November.
I stopped as soon as I saw the author was Clarence Page - big time leftie and supporter of The One. Not worth my time to read his trash.
In the meantime they will be ignoring the approach of an electoral earthquake.
I believe Wisconsin is reminiscent of the loss of Ted Kennedy's seat in ultra liberal Mass. It was a local election that had national implications.
The shock wave that followed the Mass. upset, was the House of Reps swing back to Repubs.
Hopefully history is repeating itself and Wisconsin is the pre-quake alert. In November the ground will crumble under President BO and his foolish destructive hold on America will end.
President Walker exposed the organized crime scam of Democrats and unions turning taxpayers into a never empty ATM.
Romney should unleash the FBI and IRS on unions leaders. Right....
People see the choice between...
1) Fiscal responsibility, treating all workers fairly, and sustainability, and
2) Budget blowouts, giving elevated benefits to unions, and bankruptcy.
The Democrats rely on people being too stupid to figure this out.
Mr. Page makes a lot of sense for about 90% of this column. The other 10% is where he inexplicably segues off into goofball land. I guess he can’t help himself after all these years.
Or is it only evil when Republicans do it?
Good column by a liberal who has the courage to look at reality and write about it pretty fairly. Thank you Mr. Page..(Never thought I would say THAT!)
Now there's an oldie but a goodie. I haven't heard that scare-mongering term in too long a time to remember.
Interesting how the author makes the sensible and all-too-realistic argument that voters are struggling in this economy, and that they're voting to tighten the purse strings on their state and local governments.
True, true, but he then fails to point out that those same voters voted to retain their ultraconservative Governor in the recall election, giving him a winning edge over his Democrat opponent which was even greater than the margin Walker beat him by last time.
So Clarence, is that perhaps telling you anything about Wisconsin voters???
